Nice restaurant with friendly staff, good food and a homely feel. Proper big hearth as well! Food was a good price for quality and portions, kids meals were huge for my almost two year old but she obviously enjoyed it as she gave it a proper try. We will be back again@

Small double room with small double bed, small to, and dated furniture. Stayed for two nights front door locks at 9pm with guests given a code for access. Okay but no lighting to let you see the key lock. They get three stars due to excellent staff in particular the gentleman on duty at breakfast which was also excellent. Need to refurbish and start opening hotel hours. 9pm closing for bar/restaurant with letting rooms really is not good enough.

Only came for foodFood & drinks: My family met here for our annual Christmas meal and exchange of presents as it is halfway between where we live.Firstly, in its favour, the place was warm, which is unusual in the conservatory at the front ,but it lured us into a false sense of security .We all ordered mains ,which took an hour to arrive. Two of us ordered from the festive menu. The turkey with all the trimmings or should I say without most of the trimmings arrived in a huge bowl, the kind of thing you would put down to your dog.It was all brown coloured, covered in gravy. There was I thin slice of carrot, a bit of red onion & a few small bits of cut up parsnips ,two small bits of turkey and two slices of stuffing and a Yorkshire pudding which looked and felt like it had been deep fried,it was rock solid, you would break your teeth on it.Not a Brussels sprout or pigs in blankets to be seen.I would hardly call this inedible, when I mentioned it to the waiter he said "oh I'll pass it " totally uninterested, I got the same response from him when I complained about the lipstick in the inside of my glass near the bottom, completely uninterested, not an apology, just "I'll get you a re-fill"This was a disgusting meal with an awful waiter (Dave)who needs some serious training in hospitality ,and maybe the chefs need some training too because I would've been embarrassed to put that meal down to anyone .Definitely won't be dining here again ☹️

My family come here almost every year however today has really ruined that for me.For starters my mother ordered a soda a lime when she almost finished the drink she noticed lipstick on the inside of the glass meaning it wasn’t cleaned properly. My mother and father ordered the turkey from the Christmas menu. When it arrived I was appalled. There was no colour just brown and it looked really bland, the Yorkshire pudding was rock solid and un-edible.Our waiter Dave didn’t know anything and he mumbled the dessert menu special so no one could hear it.Desserts took another hour to arrive.Once arrived they were devoured and really goodThe wait for food and drinks was an hour when hardly anyone was in. Which is beyond ridiculous. Our waiter Dave didn’t apologise or do anything when we complained to him about the food.Personally I believe Dave either needs to be sacked or retrained as his performance and attitude was not on.
