Rooms: Spotless and very comfortable.Walkability: Long walk to Gretna from here, about 5 miles!Food & drinks: Excellent food and service - drinks slightly expensive but was expecting that for an hotel.

Went to Mill Forge last week for our sons wedding. Had a fabulous time the wedding was perfect. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Very friendly and very good service. Time spent in the bar was great friendly atmosphere both with the staff and other guests. The food was great the chef was the food was lovely. We stayed an extra night. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all staff at The Mill Forge for helping make our son and daughter in laws day so special.We hope to have a trip back in the summer.

We stayed in the small double rooms which both had a double bed and a single. Drink making facilities, small TV, iron and hairdryer. Cosy and very clean room with comfortable beds. Shower with fluffy towels and toiletries. Evening meals in the main building were tasty and all staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included with a small selection of cereals, toast with scrambled eggs or full Scottish, all good just not a vast choice.

We got married here on the 5th Oct 23 we had an amazing day, from start to finish the day itself was perfect, even the communication with the run up to our wedding day was fantastic, any email or correspondence was dealt with immediately and efficiently, would just like to say a massive thank you to Sam and Debbie and the rest of the staff for helping us out along the way and putting us at ease.

Visited a year in advance of our intended wedding, needed to leave £1200+ deposit, Our wedding has now been moved from June 24 to Feb 24 due to personal reasons, when requested a refund for deposit 8 months prior to the scheduled ceremony they're saying only 40% is refundable. I find it to be grotesque to withhold £807.00 and would highly recommend seeking other venues as greed seems to be prioritised as part of their service. We will be contacting professional advice in this case. Beware doing business with "The Mill Forge".

Great place to get married. You feel very well cared for. Timing between individual weddings allows the focus to be on you rather than rushing through . Grounds are so well thought out and offers so many great photo opportunities. The staff are all amazing, especially Ian on the bar, and Pauline. They make you feel welcome and special as if you're the only couple getting married. We had an amazing day.

Rooms were clean and perfect for what we needed. Service was second to none and everyone made our day very special. The function rooms were cosy and perfect for a disco and the chapel was relaxed and a magical intimate space. Couldn't have asked for anything any better.

Really enjoyed our stay and wedding day here. The staff could not have been more helpful in fact they were fantastic nothing was too much trouble. We wanted a very simple private ceremony with just the 2 of us and that is just what they provided. Can not thank them enough. We would definitely recommend a visit if this is what you are looking for or even bigger events.
We got married here on the 12th October and had an amazing time. As soon as we arrived at reception we were put at ease. The room was lovely and very clean, the food was amazing and the staff were wonderful especially Paul, Ian and Struan. As it was only the two of us we had 2 of the wedding planners as our witnesses Sam and Molly who were absolutely brilliant walking us to the Chapel and taking many many photos for us. From the minute we arrived until we left 3 days later it was the perfect stay. Thank you to everyone for making it so special for us.

Absolutely stunning place. It has not lost its charm since we first married 4 years ago. If anyone is thinking of getting married here then don't stress as th3 staff are brilliant. Wonderful venue, wonderful staff. Would highly recommend.

Fabulous place, staff helpful, rooms nice and clean, but the only thing that worried me was breakfast was served upstairs, we had two ladies with us who had mobility problems and a family with a couple of kids who could of done with there pushchair with them, why can’t breakfast be served downstairs???

Our stay began with a very warm welcome from the friendly staff. After checking in, we made our way to our room. We were able to drive around to our room and park relatively close by. The door of the suite opens into a small hallway which in turn leads to the main bedroom or bathroom. There's also a wardrobe for hanging clothes and a small armchair.The bedroom is a good size with a double and single bed. There is a kettle with a tray of tea, coffee and snacks. Having travelled for a couple of hours a coffee and piece of shortbread was just the ticket! There is a counter along one wall with drawers and shelving below and a mirror above with a hairdryer to the side. There is a double socket which we used to charge mobile phones. The double glazed window keeps noise to a minimum. This hotel is very close to the motorway but we didn't hear the traffic until we left the bedroom. The bathroom is a bit cramped. There is a toilet, shower enclosure and basin with mirror. There are complimentary toiletries - shower gel, shampoo and hand soap. The shower has strong flow and the hot water is hot! Fresh towels are supplied and refreshed by the cleaning staff. The on-site bar/restaurant is very cosy. The menu has a good variety of meals, portions are generous and we enjoyed every meal. There is a very relaxed atmosphere too and the staff are very attentive, pleasant and helpful. Breakfast is served in a dining room upstairs. The room is a good size with plenty of tables and most of the food is self-service. Cooked breakfast orders are taken and served by the waiting staff. Our order was fulfilled very promptly and again, staff were attentive, pleasant and helpful even at 7.30 am! To summarise, the staff are all really friendly which creates a relaxed atmosphere. The accommodation is adequate and comfortable. Being a wedding venue, it can be busy at times but the staff are very efficient so you are still attended to very quickly.
