We had an awesome dinner at The Hoebridge. The dishes were delicious and executed with finesse and style. The service and atmosphere are relaxed but on point, and the dining room is paired back and cosy. As we were both not drinking we had excellent non-alcoholic cocktails. The dessert we had was simply amazing, a chocolate, hazelnut and salted caramel triumph. We will definitely be back again as it's simply the best in the area.

Such an intimate, cozy place with a beautiful love story behind it, which you can instantly feel upon entering the establishment. Hoebridge is well worth a visit if you’re in the borders, as you can feel there is a labour of passion behind this little jewel of a restaurant. Service, drinks, and decoration were beyond expectations! The staff instantly make you feel like you’re part of their family, and the atmosphere is warm and calming. In my opinion, the food wasn’t the best use of Scottish produce I found in the area as I feel a lot of raw taste of the ingredients were masked by superfluous condiments, but it was still delicious and distinguishes itself from the majority of restaurants around. I highly encourage a visit to the Hoebridge restaurant if you want to make a beautiful memory and feel good! Bravo for all the work you’ve put in to the restaurant!

We returned to this restaurant after our first visit last year for our 34th wedding anniversary . The restaurant was as good if not better than previous year. The food is simply delicious and excellent service. The quality of food and wine is excellent for price. I plan on returning next year. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Looking at the menu makes your mouth water and the food is exceptional, beautifully presented and packed full of exquisite flavours. Wines are reasonably priced so you can't go wrong if you want high quality fayre and good service in pleasing surroundings

Another excellent dinner at Hoebridge. Do not believe any negative reviews. Food and drinks were excellent, service was very attentive. The only question was the bread which they said they haven’t baked enough to give us another piece.

The atmosphere and service at this restaurant were excellent. The host went out of his way to make sure all our needs were taken care of, even going so far as to offering a second steak because he wasn't sure the first one was done correctly. The restaurant itself had a lovely atmosphere and the background music was superb and very conducive to dining.

Our second visit here. Unfortunately the owners have adopted a very aloof attitude and state on the menu that no changes will be made to the menu, regardless. Well that immediately wound me up and put me on my guard - having a very restricted diet due to medical constraints, I felt somewhat nervous to even ask about my diet restrictions. We ordered our food and when the starter arrived i could hardly believe what i saw . the mackerel starter was so small I had to take a long hard look for the actual fish. I pulled out the mackerel, and there wasn't enough fish flesh to fill a teaspoon. I'm glad i didn't ask if it would be served with the head on ! I'm pretty sure one fish would have served the whole restaurant at that scale of delivery. disappointing and I felt somewhat ripped off. i know i wasn't the only diner to feel like that as I was able to ask others about it later in the evening. my main course was the Pork fillet. i was unable to east the potatoes and other veg due to my restrictive diet, but just went with the flow, felling rather intimidated ate their 'no substitutions' house rules. i did eat the pork that was no bigger than mt thumb, and served mildly pink in the middle. It was OK, but pretty bland. That was it. my expensive meal. hugely disappointing. Overpriced. Tiny, and I mean TINY, portions. As mentioned by other diners, its a loud dining room, due to the lack of any soft furnishings and the noise reverberates around the sparsely decorated room. When i discussed my main course with the owner he did not charge me for it ( fair enough), but we left without having a sweet, or coffee. We couldn't bear to give them any more business at their inflated prices, mediocre service and poor attitude to their customers with regard to menu choices and making sure the customer goes away happy. i went away feeling i'd been thoroughly ripped off, and the owners have such a poor attitude to customer care. We wont be going back. They should read the feedback and at least do something about the noise many people complain about. Back off on the attitude too guys. Listen to your customers, and your business my be a little better. You are in Melrose, Scotland, not New York City.
