Nice property and location, but in my experience from 4 stays in recent times, not all rooms are presented to an acceptable standard.Serving & house staff do provide excellent service, but as detailed below, "management" have proved patronising, condescending and inflexible when sought to resolve issues. On my most recent pre-Christmas day visit in a group of 6 (mostly from overseas), our booking for afternoon tea in either the impressive drawing room or library (as per the website offer / promotion) was relegated to a table in a corner of the public bistro building, situated astonishingly right beside the toilet entrances when there was plenty of alternative space elsewhere in an otherwise almost deserted room....!Moreover, the female "manager" insisted that despite the terms of our booking and genuine interest, free access to the rest of the historic house (and garden / grounds) was not allowed, due to a wedding taking place at the time of our not inexpensive long-standing afternoon tea booking. No mention at the time of booking...We were definitely made to feel like second-class visitors - yet were charged the full price, with no apology or reduction for such a restricted offering. We are not encouraged to return. Caveat emptor.

Atmospheric place, peace and quiet. A perfect place for a weekend and relaxation. We were enchanted. I fell in love with the library (I could have one at home ?).Good dinner, breakfast could be improved.

10/10. We had an immediate wow factor when we arrived, driving down the long, elegant driveway. We couldn't believe how stunning the hotel is. The staff were welcoming and efficient upon arrival, and we were in shock at how stunning the hotel is. Our room was small but cozy. It had a homey guest bedroom feel, very clean and warm with the most comfortable bed. We both slept brilliantly for three nights. Breakfast was lovely, greeted each morning by welcoming staff. Breakfast was cooked fresh and brought to the table with a choice of other bits and pieces to help ourselves to. The hotel is full of charm and character with so many different rooms to explore. My boyfriend and I felt like we were in the Saltburn movie. ? The only thing missing from our room was soap; everything else was perfect! We would 100% stay again. Thank you!!

Went for the Sunday roast and it was beautiful! Also got to have a look around the house and the gardens and it's just a stunning place. Will definitely be back.

We had our wedding at Carberry Tower in January 2024 and it was so magical! The setting was gorgeous, the rooms, the chapel and reception room were all stunning. The food and drinks were fantastic and the whole wedding package was very reasonably priced. The team at Carberry were very accomodating and flexible with changes along the way and really looked after us while we were there! We will definitely be back to visit soon!

Man I really wanted to like this place but it just continued to let us down and was kind of a bummer since we were ending our honeymoon here. There were some positives: the estate is gorgeous and the grounds are really beautiful. There are lots of walkable trails on the property which we took full advantage of. Another positive was the food in the bistro was pretty good and the wait staff in there were very kind and friendly. Now to the not so positive, starting with the room. Our room was very small and cramped (I get it, it’s an old property, we paid for a standard room) but the carpets and furniture were stained. There were cobwebs all over the place and dirt and fingerprints all over the mantel and furniture. It honestly felt so grimy and gross in there. I get “old time charm” and all that but this place was genuinely just not clean. The shower was FULL of black mold, to the point where we just didn’t even want to bathe in it, and the sink didn’t drain. The bed was rock hard (genuinely felt like we were sleeping on a plank of wood) and honestly we just didn’t even want to spend time in the room because it was so miserable. Our room also overlooked a courtyard area where the employees like to hang out (at all hours of the day) and one evening they were even out there at 11pm playing music, singing, smoking, etc. it was pretty miserable to be honest. Also of note is that we got the vibe from some of the staff here that we were an annoyance or bother anytime we had questions. We got brushed off a few times when we made inquiries and another time were genuinely pushed out the door (and I mean literally) when we were trying to return for dinner reservations because they were “dealing with another party”. We weren’t trying intrude or butt in, we literally were just walking in and got ushered away. It really made us feel awful and made us feel like other guests were more important to them than us. I understand that maybe they were overwhelmed with a large party before us, but they didn't need to send us off or push us out.Overall, just not a great experience. Giving it the extra star because the property is beautiful and the food was decent but honestly, we wouldn’t return here.Rooms: Small, dirty, uncomfortable beds, loud outside the window, black moldFood & drinks: Good food, friendly staff, never crowded when we were there

We visited here at great expense for Santa's Grotto. It was one of the most expensive grottos around Edinburgh and genuinely the most disappointing we have yet to attend. I contacted Carberry but they haven't even bothered to reply to my polite email. We waited for nearly 1 hour to see Santa. There was no grotto experience, and we had to sit at a table and wait, eventually doing colouring in, while my daughter asked for the only interesting thing in the room - a table of overpriced balloons. When we saw Santa she received an age inappropriate gift that can be purchased online for £6. Her face actually fell and she asked if sje could give it bsck so Santa could give it to one of the kids who couldn't afford anything at Xmas. She's not a spoilt kid - she loves any present she gets. Santa put his foot in it several times, not knowing her name and mentioned not seeing her since last year - though of course to her, she had seen him at Archerfield and nursery, as it was 21st December. This isn't just a money spinner to kids - she truly believes in Santa and this is meant to be lovely experience. Complete joke and absolute money spinner. Honestly a polite reply to an email goes a long way. Kids are only little once - don't ruin the magic for them.

My wife and I have just arrived home from a lovely two night stay with you. Must say, what a few days. First, your staff - Fantastic, friendly, professional and happy to go that extra mile. Everyone we interacted with including house keeping, general staff, house staff and bar staff were naturally nice, it did not feel false. Nothing was too much for them. On the Saturday evening, I was relaxing in the lounge, was hungry, but comfortable and relaxed. So, I asked the bar staff if there was anyway I could eat in the lounge. they explained that they would check with the restaurant/kitchen and be right back. Within a few minutes, they were back, we ordered and it came shortly after that. The food was excellent quality and large in portion. The service just made an already very nice day.Overall, great place, very clean, super staff add to this lots of places to sit and relax, read, look out the window at the grounds. Chat if you want, sit yourself again if you want.We also had the afternoon tea. Again, fantastic, the quality of the surrounds, the service and the quality of the food and tea. I know I have mentioned it, but again excellent staff and all the wee touches, like the information sheets on the house history.Rooms: Upgrade to the executive room, worth the few pounds

We had the most magical wedding at Carberry Tower in 2023, and we couldn't be happier with our choice of venue. The staff at Carberry Tower were not only incredibly friendly but also exceptionally accommodating. They went above and beyond to ensure that our special day was exactly as we envisioned. We could visit whenever we wanted, and they were always there to assist us. Their advice was invaluable, and their responsiveness and experience were evident throughout the entire process. It was clear that they were well-versed in orchestrating beautiful weddings. The venue itself is nothing short of stunning. The beautiful gardens provided us with a picturesque backdrop, and the thoughtful options for both rain and shine ensured that our day was perfect regardless of the weather. The rooms were not only comfortable but also spacious, providing ample room for our guests to enjoy the celebration. The food options were delicious, and the curated supplier list made planning a breeze. What truly stood out for us was the ability to take over the entire venue, allowing us to keep the party going late into the night without any restrictions. We wholeheartedly recommend Carberry Tower as a wedding venue. Our experience was nothing short of magical, and we are grateful for the exceptional service and beautiful setting that made our wedding day truly unforgettable.

We recently had a wedding at Carberry Tower. A stunning spot with a great team who go above & beyond for their guests. The rooms were beautifully appointed with comfortable beds. The historical notes in the room were a great point of interest. The food was outstanding. Obviously, it is a very talented kitchen team that takes pride in the quality, taste & presentation of the food on offer. Lovely little nooks to disappear with a cup of tea or a gin & tonic. Such a rich history on top of all the items mentioned above makes Carberry Tower a must. ?
