Interesting 'little' bistro primarily servicing hotel guests, but open to non-residents.I took my 80YO mother-in-law who had lived within 10 miles for most of her life, and she'd never been before !OpenTable said no availability, so called them directly. They had no problem accommodating us and explained how they handle reservations. If they have a large occupancy of hotel guests, they limit non-resident reservations for the Bistro, to ensure they have tables available for their guests, especially as they can't just walk outside and choose somewhere else. The menu is simple, not extensive, but enough to satisfy most appetites. We found the food to be a solid 7/8 out of 10 and the service was very professional and friendly. Prices are commensurate with the quality of service/product and based on our experience, we will definitely return in the future.

I booked a surprise lunch on-line for my partner’s birthday. We wanted to walk from Musselburgh but drive back and management were very obliging in allowing me to park the car there overnight in advance. The service from Judith was warm, friendly and attentive without being over-bearing. The utterly delicious food was served efficiently and stunningly presented. My partner, who’s more of a ‘foody’ than me, believes it’s bad form to photograph a plate of food. But even she felt a need to record the effort and care apparent in the presentationsWe were told most of the chefs have been there since pre-pandemic and it’s a happy team. It shows in the provision of such exceptional quality. The vanilla and maple syrup cheesecake was, in particular, a delight. Somehow the flavours matched the presentation (last photo). There was also a relaxed ambience in the busy bistro with lovely views to the wooded grounds.I was always going to provide 5-stars to all concerned for a wonderful meal and such good value but the waiving of my dessert by dint of it being my partner’s birthday made a lovely experience even better. My own birthday isn’t so far away and then we can return. Wonderful!

Fantastic service for a large group for a special birthday treat, upgraded to a stunning library room (foc) and food was delicious and the staff were great throughout. My only surprise is that it is not expensive for such a wonderful location

Wonderful tasty food. Service was second to none - Peter and his colleagues were top class professionals, friendly, polite and without doubt a key part of the relaxed ambience here. We had dishes from the lunch menu, and aside of there being plenty of lovely food, was also excellent value. If you've not been here, booking a table is recommended! The whole experience was so enjoyable, and despite us living in Glasgow, we intend to visit again. Well done to all the staff.

A lovely summer evening and we enjoyed a delicious dinner here. We’d been gifted a voucher for a 3 course dinner for two. (Just a little note, as luckily we asked when we arrived… the voucher covers food only, not drinks, so make sure your food total meets the face value of your voucher) The service was good, mostly friendly young people and a more experienced guy running the show. The pace of service was good, as we hate to be rushed. Our food was delicious. The ‘pistachio goats cheese with beetroot carpaccio and chocolate vinaigrette’ was tasty, but the decorative dark chocolate drops were perhaps a step too far! My vegetarian tart was delicious, if a tad over salted. We had a little peek at the hotel gardens after dinner, very pretty.

My husband and I are staying at the Carberry Tower Mansion. We had dinner at The Campaign Room. I had spinach gnocchi and he had lamb. We both had orange cheesecake for dessert. Our dinner was delicious.

First visit with the other half and, to be fair the food was good. The Chicken Terrine was fresh and clean on the palate, the wagyu burgers were well priced and well cooked (and not overcooked) and the Pistachio Cheesecake was light and refreshing - so well done chefs. You deserve a 4 out of 5 at least. The 3 star rating is mainly due to the complete lack of ambience about the place and a very uncertain service. Staff were friendly enough but it feels as if no one is in charge and I lost count of how many times the receptionist came through for a "wee chat" with the staff. The other half even noticed staff nibbling food behind the bar. In fact, there seemed to be a lot of staff not connected with the restaurant just "popping in", so much so that when we left the receptionist and, I think, the head waiter were so engaged in conversation that the words "goodbye" were missing... so we sloped off, well fed but a bit bemused. By the way, there were actually 2 guests waiting to check in when we left. And here's a note for any person heading there - when the waiter asks if you want water when you arrive just make sure they mean tap water... Our bottle cost us £4.25!!!

Incredible home-made food and excellent service here at Carberry Tower. Prices are totally reasonable. Highly recommend!

First visit. Impressive building stands at the end of a long driveway. Bistro is cosy with a log fire. Service was very good and the food was excellent. Only slight disappointing item was the cheesecake which was bit on the solid side but everything else was well cooked. Surprisingly quiet which was good for us as we weren't rushed out and spent 4 hours at dinner. Would recommend.

Young inexperienced staff. Came to take order before all the party had arrived. Removed glass of wine when clearly it was not finished. Coffee bitter and cold. Told the replacement was the best they could do (young waitress) and if not satisfied to speak to the manager who we didn’t see all night. No heating on, not even a coal fire. Sat with coats on! No atmosphere whatsoever!

Santa experience was such a disappointment. Literally got out the car, walked past some candy canes and a few lights (woodland experience?!) sat in the “cafe” area. Yes the girls were dressed as elves and there was a tree, straw and some kind of booth but that was it! No magical Christmas experience or atmosphere at all. Santa was behind a curtain in the corner of the room and although lovely he shouldn’t have been Santa. Far too young and his beard and hat were falling off. Toy was a crappy cheap soft toy, for £15 this was a total rip off. Such a lovely setting that could have been great but just done so cheaply
