Tried for first time. Chicken tasty but sweet and sour sauce watery and no pieces of fruit and veg in it.

Great view, great food and great service We enjoyed fish and chips; delicious beer batter and tasty peas. Then shared a fruit crumble with ice cream. Perfect rainy Saturday lunch. What a treat.

The service, food, and drinks were all fine, but the menu is disappointing. The majority of the food leaving the kitchen, from my viewpoint, were fish and chips, closely followed by the burger. I hate to think if they were taken off the menu how the pub would survive. The restaurant is crying out for good wholesome, well priced food. No point trying to keep in vogue, the Boat Brae is a great venue with so much potential. ( My fish and chips were delicious )

There were 6 of us out for a family birthday meal ( 5 adults and my 4 year old grandson ) and and from start to finish we had a lovely dining experience. Service and food was excellent....the views from the full length picture windows are nothing short of spectacular and the atmosphere amiable and relaxed.

The haddock and chips tasted so bad I had to send it back and the refund has yet to arrive in my wifes bank account. The replacement steak was tasty but overpriced for what it was. I hope that’s not the usual standard of fish and chips.

NOTE!!! You should change that poor menu you offer nowadays! Huge difference from before the fire! Not enough choice aswell as stupid ott combinations as specials. 8 pm and the restaurant was more than half empty…on a Saturday night!!! You will severely regret changing menu to what we seen on Saturday evening. Sorry, but me and 8 of our family, wont be back! Very dissapointed with having £10 of my voucher going to be wasted as my bill was lower than the voucher amount. Why would you not just give balance in cash?? And for the the most stupid idea of giving customers a 1.5 hours window to eat then give up their table is ridiculous!! Who the hell came up with that nonsence? Sorry my comment is brutal, but its far better than me saying all this infront of the few customers that were in at same time as us on Saturday night. If you dont go back to what it was, you will not survive in this climate?‍♂️

Excellent - the views are outstanding, with food and service to match. The parsnip mousse (yes, it is a dessert!) was wonderful. Husband had the tarte tatin, which is supposed to be a sharing dessert, so I helped him out (good of me, I know). I combined it with the parsnip mousse and it was amazing!

This restaurant was highly recommended by the hosts of the VRBO where we stayed while in Newport-on-Tay. The views were phenomenal, the food was excellent and the service was great. Be aware, if you visit in the summer during a heat wave, there is no air conditioning. ?

Took our daughter here for a birthday lunch. From the outset the staff were brilliant, the food phenomenal and the choice of wines extensive. Attention to detail first class all set in a magnificent setting next to the Tay.

We have eaten here 3 times since moving to the area a few months ago, so this represents our experience as a whole, rather than one specific visit. Our first visit was without a booking, the others were having booked. Our welcome was equally warm and helpful each time. In fact, the friendly service really adds to the experience. The restaurant sits right beside the Firth of Tay so you get fabulous views across the water to Dundee including the rail bridge that snakes its way across the firth. Gulls, herons and other wildlife can be seen and we saw a particularly lovely sunset on one visit. The menu isn't extensive but strikes a good balance between every day things like burgers and fish and chips, alongside ballotine of chicken and other interesting dishes. We understand that the menu changes 4 or 5 times a year and there are daily specials. We have had chicken ballotine, fish and chips, a lamb dish, and a seafood linguine. Most were excellent, the linguine was good but not great. It is family friendly but would also suit a romantic dinner (with views) or eating out with friends.

Staff were awesome food and wine were lovely. Just popped in for a quick bite and haven’t been here for well over a year and the fire. The menu is small and the attention to customers from the staff is brilliant.
