As soon as I spotted this place on our arrival in North Berwick, I was desperate to try it out. Our kids aren’t fans of Thai food so we opted for a takeaway. It was delicious and I would definitely recommend. I arrived a bit early to order as I didn’t realise they didn’t open until 6 but they were still happy to serve me and I sat in peace for 20 mins waiting for the food to be made. It was well worth the wait, and reasonably priced too.

Just not doing it for me. Not authentic food at all. Staff are friendly though.

We love Tai cuisine & we’re looking forward to trying this Tai restaurant in North Berwick. Service was good, however of the 2 main courses that we had, only 1 part ( fish) tasted freshly made & hot . The noodles that came with it were barely warm, & the other main course ( mixed prawn /meat noodle dish) was unappetising to look at & was very dry & barely warm.Considering that the restaurant was very quiet, only the fish seemed freshly cooked . So disappointed with our overall experience.

My wife and I ordered for collection as there were limited options for takeaway in North Berwick, and the restaurant looked nice from the outside. When we opened up the food, it was very unappetising. On tasting it, the flavour was nice, but the curry sauce was very thick and claggy. The chilli sauce with our sides was very thin and a couple of the prawn crackers were a bit chewy, bordering on stale. I wouldn't go back, and would probably choose a good ready meal from a supermarket instead, or just get fish and chips from nearby.

Great tasty food and service and lovely to sit outside. Beer just a little bit pricey for those wee bottles.

my friends and family enjoyed it but the race was horrible,i asked for egg friend rice and soya sauce but there was no soya sauce, had to ask for it separate.

The takeaway from Poonthai in North Berwick was undoubtedly the worst Thai food I have ever had. It was bland, cold and had no hint of Thailand cuisine. I didn’t even eat more than a mouthful. My wife was more brave than me and stopped after two spoons full. I don’t even think it was worth one star. The restaurant was completely empty. Now I know why. I will never eat from there again. I don’t believe the five star ratings.

Oh dear, one of our favourite restaurants has definitely gone downhill. The single server struggled to keep up with serving several tables and the food was only so-so. We asked for the dessert menu only to be told brusquely that "we haven't made any" desserts, so my favourite black rice with coconut sauce was out of the question. It was a real problem trying to get the server's attention as she spent most time in the kitchen dealing with takeaway orders.

Poor food tastes okay soup has tiny king prawns severed in tiny cardboard tub barely fills bowl halve way . The rice small amount on small container then main course filled up one third shreds of chicken not the best had Thai many times . Overpriced for what you get also not even crackers with the order !

Love coming here. Great staff and firendly atmosphere. Food is fantastic and I also come here to get a takeaway.

We’ve used poonthais for some time but have noticed the amount in the takeaway containers have reduced over time. I stopped buying my favourite meal as I kept getting half a container and felt let down. I then swapped to another meal and lo and behold both this and my wife’s were both half empty. It’s a shame as the food is very good but It’s not cheap and you shouldn’t be left wishing they had filled the other half. Let’s hope next time is better
