My recent takeaway experience from Okome was, unfortunately, a major disappointment. The high prices certainly didn't reflect the quality of the food.My king prawn sweet and sour dish was a particular let down. For the price, I received a paltry portion. The star of the show, the king prawns, were more like anorexic shrimps - three tiny, deep-fried specimens that wouldn't satisfy a toddler's appetite. The rest of the dish was equally underwhelming: a single, undercooked stalk of broccoli, a smattering of beansprouts, sweet &sour sauce that was neither sweet nor sour and the most basic boiled rice imaginable.Another of my groups katsu chicken offered little redemption. The breaded chicken was more like a pile of mystery meat nuggets, and the accompanying potato appeared to have barely seen the heat. The obligatory boiled rice was, once again, a forgettable addition.Even the side of fries couldn't escape the curse of mediocrity. They were overcooked and cold, a feat that left me wondering how long they'd been languishing before being thrown on our order. While I can't speak for my entire groups experience, the silence surrounding their meals spoke volumes. Let's just say the lack of enthusiastic chatter wasn't a good sign.Overall, Okome's takeaway service was a pricey disappointment. Tiny portions, lackluster execution, and an overall sense of neglect left me feeling like I'd wasted my money. I'd strongly recommend looking elsewhere for a satisfying and flavorful takeaway experience.
