I didn't feel very welcome. I was sure he said £4 for my beer. But it was £4.80. I will not be back.

A small pub that is simpler than simple, but we felt so incredibly welcome and there were lots of dog treats on offer! Would highly recommend. It is cash only so take plenty with you!

Excellent relaxing two day break in the Victoria Hotel Portknockie . New owners Dave and Lorraine have upgraded the Hotel to an exceptional standard and very welcoming. Room bright , airy and exceptionally clean. Ensuite bathroom again exceptionally clean with lovely towels, good shower and plenty of hot water. Hotel serves lovely , tasty meals and continental breakfast excellent with plenty variety and fresh fruit an added bonus. Hotel in centre of town and stone's throw from coast and Harbour area. Lovely walks along the coast to Buckie also Cullen and beyond and as hotel dog friendly ideal for dog walking. Excellent bar and lounge with plenty variety of whiskies and beers and great locals for a chat with a refreshing pint. Will certainly recommend to friends and will make the Hotel our main holiday place for short breaks from now on.

Up there with the best small hotel stays we've had over the years. Exceptional warm and welcoming service from Lorraine and David and the friendly regulars. Lovely big room and excellent food and drink selection available at amazing prices. Will be hard to beat for hospitality and value in this beautiful part of the country. Hope to see you again soon.

We had wonderful meal Lorraine the owner is very knowledgeable of dietary requirements. I am a coeliac and I was very well catered for. The meal was delicious. Dave's whisky and gin bar is very much a source of discussion. So much choice. Thank you guys. We had a wonderful experience and definitely will return

Stayed for 2 nights and was made to feel welcome by the staff and customers, the bar is warm and drinks are a good price, food was great value for money and well presented, the new owners have made such a difference to this business and are now the locals local drinking place, lovely people and wish you both a successful future Marion and Les Nicholson

Lovely new hosts. Delicious home cooked food. Great beer and whisky advice. Meet the locals in the small bar. Short walk to Bow Fiddle Rock. A great little break from driving in NE Scotland. Days are short in winter so it was a great little stop after Inverness. You can explore the town in the morning and be on your way or stay longer and enjoy the company

The hotel had curry’s available as a special whilst watching the World Cup, good portion sizes, can totally recommend the beef curry with half rice and half chips, yummy, very tasty indeed ! ??! Will definitely be back ?

Super hotel and bar in the village. Excellent hosts, great warm welcome everytime we pop in with our bulldog Ronnie. He always gets a few treats and loads of fuss. Well worth popping in if you live in the village as we do, or if you are just passing and wanting a drink and a warm fire to enjoy. We have not stayed as we live in the village, but friends of ours have who said it was a lovely stay.

Very comfortable clean and friendly hotel set in a beautiful village. Thank for making us feel so welcome. Everything was perfect. I think the hotel has recently changed hands and the bathroom and room decor looked new. We really enjoyed the surrounding area and hope to be able to return one day.

This is the nearest hotel to the Bow Fiddle Rock, so the location is good for me. The lady owner is super nice and welcoming. Having heard we were going to take the Chinese Takeaway she prepared dishes and cutlery for us in the dining room. When we found the Takeaway closed and bought stuff from the supermarket she warmed the food up for us. Thank you so much. The owners only recently took over management and so only the bar is up and running. But out room was ready and clean. The decor is a bit dated but still good. The room is of good size and the heater worked well. The bathroom has surfaces and hooks for towels and clothes. Finally an accommodation has a hand towel holder. Most hotels provide a bath towel and a hand towel but never thought about where we can hang them. The shower was not as powerful and as warm as many I have experienced on this trip but it's still functional. This accommodation will be good once they have got the business going and made improvements. Thanks for being so welcoming and helpful. Thanks also to the manager who lead me to the harbour as he saw that I do photography and there was a fantastic sunset that night. If you are not here for the Bow Fiddle Rock then I would say the little town is too quiet. But if you are here for a quiet holiday and some coastal walks then this is for you. There are only 2 eateries outlet. The Portknockie Fish and Chips opens Thursday to Sunday. The Chinese Takeaway opens all week except Tuesdays. We happened to be in town on Tuesday. In the end we bought some hamburgers and pies at the Spar supermarket and our host warmed them up for us. The mattress is a bit old and creaky. Same for the floors. But we still had a good night's sleep.

We were hoping to visit this bar as we were staying in the village (first week of September), but it never seemed to be open apart from the last Friday evening. Maybe it's not a public bar?!?
