I definitely recommend this place. The staff was very friendly and the room was very cozy and clean with a killer view on the sea. Scottish breakfast, with vegetarian option, was excellent. I normally struggle sleeping in new places, but the room was so quiet and the bed so comfortable that I didn’t have any issues falling asleep. If you have some time you can grab a drink at the ground floor pub a have goo time with locals and listen to their stories.

This is the best pub that we went to in 7 towns in Scotland! Live trad Scottish music that was great played by two lads. Very small and intimate place, not posh, but a lot of fun.

I would love to thank to amazing, helpful, warmhearted young receptionist and waitress in The Pier hotel, who literally saved us from sleeping on the street. The hire company left us stranded without any help after our car broke down and we couldn’t get to our destination with booked accomodation for that night and no one was really helpful and we were desperate. Then we got to The Pier hotel and met this amazing girl, who really felt sorry for us and wanted to help us:) thank you again, the room was tiny but very lovely and clean with amazing view on the lake. We were over the moon and will never forget your helping attitude ❤️Veronika and Nadia from The Czech Republic

Stayed two nights in early June.Positives: nice views of the pier from the hotel. Clean linens and towels. Helpful ladies in the kitchen, prepared nice warm Scottish breakfast every morning. Walkable everywhere, for that matter Portree is a very small town.Negatives:Rooms are very basic (stayed in Room#1). Bathroom barely usable, more of a walk in wardrobe size. Super small Wash basin with two separate hot water and cold water taps with super hot and super cold water respectively. Can’t figure out how to use those- can be changed to water mixing taps? Wall mounted water heater in shower, with water fluctuating between super hot and super cold by itself. Kitchen is not open for lunch/dinner. Portree does not have a lot of restaurants, and mostly are booked way in advance. Limited dinner options.

This family run restaurant serves simple, well cooked dishes with the freshest seafood you'll find anywhere on Skye, because a lot of it comes from the family's own fishing boat which lands on the slipway outside the front door of the restaurant. Great friendly service and nice atmosphere. Well worth a visit .

Loved The Pier Hotel! We were a group of 3 couples traveling from the US Virgin Islands, and we stayed 4 nights. Very clean, cozy rooms, perfect location on the harbour, fun pub, and fantastic breakfasts! (Thank you Effie and Ann!!!) This was a perfect home base as we explored all over the Isle of Skye. Can't wait to go back!

Its notable that the most recent review of the Pier was before the excellent chef moved on. I expect its possibly because most of the experiences could have been like mine....high expectations based on what is now an out-of-date hype and previous reviews - an experience that was disappointing at best. It was always going to be tough for any chef to meet the apparently very high standards set by their predecessor, but the experience was underwhelming. Based on my September experience, I strongly recommend thinking about other dining options in Portree, of which there are many. I try to write positive, constructive reviews, but sadly the meal was disappointing and very, very ordinary. I hope that perhaps I was there on a bad day.

What a lovely place right in Portree. The food is traditional and delicious; I got freshly caught langoustines (from the Portree Area!) in butter with salad and they were incredible. Desserts are to die for. Service is great, price more than affordable for what you get. It doesn't accept reservation and the special of the day is first come first serve so make sure you get there before 5pm to get it. The perfect place after a day of hiking in Skye.

Outstanding food! Recommend the scallops. The chef is imaginative and excellent! The waitress is fun, friendly and helpful. Best in Portree. Not taking reservations is a plus.

I highly recommend The Pier Restaurant. We had such good seafood there on our first night on Skye that we returned the next night! The scallops were delicious and beautifully presented. The mussels and Langoustines were wonderful, as was the beet salad. And the brownie dessert was amazing! The waitress was very friendly and attentive. We hope to visit Skye again and will definitely eat at The Pier Restaurant!

Highly recommend this place, as it suggested to us by others who had visited earlier in week. The starters of mussels and cullen skink were delicious and was worth the wait. The combination of flavours on the mussels was one of best Ive tasted. The scallops main was also delicious, beautifully presented and uniquely Scottish with the ingredient combo. Be warned you will be very full as honest portions Be prepared for a wait max 6 tables, but staff are so helpful and accommodating and could not do enough. Sit have a drink next door and chat to the locals the the wait passes very quickly. Will return when have more time & savour the fresh languostines that were caught that day. It’s on the pier so cant get fresher than that.
