I can’t believe how bad this place is. The decor and service was good but the food does not live up to the awards it has received. Cheap mayonnaise in the tartar sauce, YUK!!. Will never ever visit this establishment again. I honestly do not know how this place achieved all these awards. Makes me wonder ?

Had a carry out and was blown away with the choice of gluten free options. Food was very taste and service was very good. Only down side waste slow service. Would go again

We originally planned to have our lunch at The Anstruther Fish Bar but it was closed for kitchen repairs so decided to try the Wee Chippy instead. We were seated promptly and order taken at 1.10pm. Tea and bread/butter arrived within 5 mins. Takeaway area started getting busy with school kids. Once buying their takeaway food, they processed to come into the sit-down area. Now if I wanted to eat my lunch with a dozen noisy school kids, I would have gone to the local High School canteen! I was interested when I read previous posts about people not allowed to eat their takeaway food in the restaurant when a downpour started. You must need to be a local school kid to be allowed to do that! After 25 minutes our fish and chips finally arrived. Tea was now closed so had to request a fresh pot. When I questioned the wait. I was told it was our lunchtime rush. Fair enough I said, but I ordered before the kids came in. Clearly custom from the school kids is more important that people wanting to eat in the restaurant. On a positive note, our meal was lovely. Would only come back if the schools were on holiday or well before 1pm.

We booked a table for 6.30 on the 5th of November.arrived 10 minutes early, were shown to our table served drinks at our booking time then food order was taken. The restaurant it self was not too busy and apart from our selves and 1 other table coming in @7 our order took ages.7.10 actually.I heard 1 family asking when their food was arriving as they had been waiting 40 minutes already and wanted to be outside to let their daughter see the fireworks. The girl said they were next but another table would be served first and that the wait was longer because they were serving the massive takeaway q. IMO they should have served us quicker in the restaurant and in the end we had to ask for a takeaway box for my daughter's as we also wanted to watch the fireworks. So service was slow, fish a little greasy but we will return to give it a second chance.

Not sure where to start. Heard they have won awards so thought we would try this place. Unfortunately it was a mistake and a regretful one after such a long travel. Inside looks nice but that’s where it ends. The staff were uninviting but the food was dreadful. After making some comments to the waitress, she just sniggered and moved on. We will return to the famous one along the road next time we’re up.

Totally worth the 3 hour round trip every couple of months for our lunch treat! Everything is so fresh, and the gluten free batter is so light and crisp! Today I had a GF white pudding supper with “scraps”, huge portion and absolutely delicious! The staff are super and very helpful. Thank you Team! ?

Some mixed reviews but for us the experience was fabulous. The quality of the fish was outstanding; fresh, crispy and tasty. Chips were light and crisp. Portions nice and generous. Personally I loved the decor, modern, fresh and clean. The tin plates etc were a wonderful little touch and sets it apart from the usual. The young lady that served us was polite and efficient despite it being busy. Absolutely recommend you visit and make up your own mind.

As far from an award winning takeaway as it gets ! We drove from Dunfermline for what we thought would be a superb experience. The steak pie was dripping in oil , the chips and cheese with curry sauce had very little cheese and congealed curry sauce clearly thickened with Cornflour and reheated, the chips were RAW !. The tartar sauce they forgot along with our Irn Bru , we had to go back and gave them feedback when we picked up the drinks and the excuse given was that they had had a wet potato season so that's the best they could do. All in all a terrible takeaway and one which we will avoid at all costs in the future.

Absolutely lovely GLUTEN FREE food to sit in or take away at the Wee Chippy in Anstruther. Great selection of gluten free items including white pudding (they also offer haggis and black pudding) very large portions. Chips were great and not greasy at all.

Unfortunately this expensive take away was extremely disappointing. We were visiting Anstruther and saw this chip shop had won awards so we ordered. The batter on the fish was very soggy (although the fish itself was lovely and fresh) and we could taste the fat the products were cooked in which was off-putting. The tartar sauce was missing from our order and the gluten free white pudding was actually soggy fritter like lumps. Sorry to leave a negative review but we won't be back.

Worst takeaway I have had in a long time. We used to use Anstruther fish bar but left them as suppers were awful. Our takeaway tonight was inedible. Chips were soggy with loads of grease and scampi was also soggy, nothing was crisp Won’t be back even though we live here permanently.

The Best Breaded Haddock in Scotland , beautifully crisp on the outside and lovely melt in the mouth fresh fish on the inside . I wish i lived nearer.

Quite simply the best fish and chips I’ve EVER had! I had battered haddock and chips - all cooked fresh to order. The lightest batter and perfectly cooked chips. Superb!

Went here because it has a 2023 award - well, not sure how that was awarded: whilst batter was excellent the chips were so so dry they were almost inedible: zero moisture so like eating cardboard - totally unpleasant experience. We will be going back to the real best fish and chip resturant in Anstruther: The Anstruther Fish Bar - have been going there for 20 years and consistently excellent

Took friends for award winning fish and chips Don’t no how they got the award We ordered lightly battered fish but when it came it was anything but ,apparently it couldn’t be done it would disintegrate in the fryer also part of order missing and the rest was sub standard to say the least Wont be back and no discount offered
