Walked in and up to the counter. One of those situations where the staff seem like you’re going to mug them - hiding round a corner, peering over as if they’re unsure why they’re even there. Engaged one with strong eye contact and managed to force a smile out of them. Win. Next, onto the order.First world problem coming right up. But still. Ordered a double macchiato. First thing up was a latte or flat white size drink. Loads of milk. That went back. Second up, what most closely resembled a cappuccino. Manager could see I looked perplexed and came over. I asked them what their definition of a macchiato is. Apparently their definition is a cappuccino. With no chocolate powder. So not even a good cappuccino. Huge amount of foam on top. She was happy with this, saying places ‘just do things differently’. They do indeed.I know everywhere does things differently, but things have names so you literally know what you’re ordering and hopefully getting within at least a sensible range. Kind of a basic principle of language, and being able to operate in a society. I had assumed.According to the manager the first drink wasn’t acceptable and was a miscommunication? Not sure at what point in the complex chain of communication between me and the barista things got muddled… I guess she was talking about head office completely miscommunicating how to make coffee to their branches.Careful if you go there for a sandwich. Could end up with a large bowl of pasta.

best pret, super clean, all the staff are so so nice. there is not always seating available, esp. on weekday afternoons during term time, but that's to be expected. even when it's crazy busy they still manage to make the drinks super fast and you don't have to wait at the counter for someone.

This was my first time visiting and I will NOT be returning to any chain of Pret. There was no sense to where the queue was and no one to make it clear (except a small paper sign people were standing in front of). I was waiting there for ages in front of the till waiting to be served. They could see that and didn’t acknowledge me or attempt to indicate I was standing in the wrong place. Some people came in a while after me and then after we were all standing in the wrong place, we were finally told to queue on the other side - and they were served instantly. Knowing I had stood there first, the barista told me to join the back of the queue on the other “correct” side. I completely understand my side was incorrect, but I think it’s very curt to then serve the others before me fully knowing I had been waiting before them, to make a point. To top it off, another lady came and stood right where I was before and was instantly served on the other side - the barista even looked at me - despite this being the “incorrect” side. Normally I wouldn’t write reviews like this but as a barista myself and having worked in hospitality all my life, this was all very rude from their side and not the way I would ever act with customers. I didn’t even get a slightest ‘sorry about that’. Ironically the only people that apologised were the people who got served in front. It seems common decency is lost in these big chains. I didn’t make a big fuss but I 100% won’t be returning, I’d much prefer to support independent coffee shops or ones that have a sense of hospitality to them.

Disappointed today for the first time. I usually have a ham and cheese toastie with mustard and it is excellent. Sadly today when I opened it, I found it was made with brown bread. I don't like brown bread. There was no indication on the packaging. It just said ham and cheese toastie with mustard. On looking at the tiny print of ingredients it said it was made with seeded bloomer bread. I don't know about you but I always assume that a toastie is made with white bread. My companion enjoyed his bacon roll and I picked out some of the filling but it was very sad. I didn't complain as who would want me to return a toastie with one optimistic bite mark in it

I love this place. Save me from garbage food when I’m hungry and at a fair price. I like the nutrition label and the seating area. The only complaint is that the toilet is not allowed for customers to use.

Amazing service from the team even when busy, great coffee always.

5 times I said to the guy 'now just to triple check, I don't want my coffee laced with LSD okay?' He nodded nonchalantly every time but did he listen? Hell no! I was tripping for 16 hours! I adopted something called a 'south African Koala bear' and also half my flatmates. Like I'm legally their parents.

The staff in St Andrews Pret are really welcoming, helpful and knowledgable. Every time I go in it is a pleasure to speak to them.

You need to ask for a code to use toilet and still it's messy inside , ridiculous

Great service and friendly staff. There was a bit of a queue when we got in, but the staff absolutely smashed through the orders.

My friend and I have come here almost every single morning for over a year now. The staff are super friendly and the place is perfect and often the highlight of our days.

Very busy environment but good service and quality. Considering the number of customer requests, the speed and friendliness of the staff is amazing.

The food was OK but the labelling wasn't very obvious. I wasn't sure what I had chosen until I opened it.There wasn't any atmosphere - small hard chairs at a tiny table but it is after all just a coffee shop.
