Overall a disappointing dining experience. Tasteless, dry and overcooked. Two fillet steaks, one ordered medium-rare and one medium. Both came out medium to well. Most dry and tasteless cut of fillet I have experienced. Truffle fries didn’t appear to have even been drizzled with any truffle oil. Based on personal experience it was a waste of money and I certainly wouldn’t return.

My wife and I went for lunch and to be honest we won’t be back. For the price we paid the menu was very disappointing and if you have any food allergies then I would probably avoid as the choice is vey limited.

Had quite a disappointing experience at the Adamsen last night while out to dinner with my boyfriend. We both ordered the burger and when they arrived the buns were completely stale, and the burger patty was chewy and burnt. For an £80 dinner, this was quite disappointing. When we politely complained about the quality of the food, the manager was sent over and asked what we wanted her to do about it. They did kindly offer to compensate a free dessert, however considering my burger was not eaten and was frankly inedible, I would have really appreciated not being charged for that item instead. However, the cocktails were good, and the staff were very kind.

Me and boyfriend had the best time tonight, we were served by possibly the nicest and sweetest woman ever. She recommended my boyfriend a really nice wine to go with his steak which went down an absolute treat! Her name was Louisa, credit where it’s due! Give her a bloody pay rise :PXx

My partner and I hadn't visited in a while and were excited about celebrating my partner's birthday at The Adamson. Unfortunately, there were a couple of points that could have been better. We were impressed by the lady who sat us and took our order. She was friendly and warm and delivered excellent service. Even when we raised the below with her, she was discrete and apologetic. The same can't be said for the manager. We ordered the Chateaubriand; I see there are comments on TripAdvisor around the costs and lack of sides that come with the steaks - but it was a special occassion, and we looked forward to our steak and duly ordered some sauces and sides to accompany it. Unfortunately, shortly after the main course was served, we realised that the chips were heavily seasoned - you could see the table salt on the fries, almost like a salt crust. It was too much. We explained this to our server, and she quickly apologised and asked her manager to come to our table. The manager announced her arrival at our table with "What's wrong?". We explained about the chips and that we were worried about the steak being cold while waiting for our chips to be replaced. She then took this away. Upon her return, we were given new fries and our original steak. But the steak was placed under the hot lamps until it was overcooked. There was no apology. When we raised this, the manager's response to us was almost aggressive. My partner called this out and explained that the manager was coming across as patronising. Almost as if we were fishing for money off. In reality, we just wanted to enjoy the main we ordered. In the end, the steak and sides were all replaced, and the main was delicious. We were happy to pay the entire bill upon wrapping things up. Our visit was just soured by what came across as a bad attitude. Upon booking some allergies, we noted that we were celebrating a birthday but unfortunately this seemed to have been missed as there was no mention of either. The low rating does not reflect the food we enjoyed in the end - just the style of service that the senior member delivered had a significant impact on what was pegged to be a celebration.

Ordered water and drinks for the table, had to wait 35 minutes for both to arrive! Like all place the prices here have increased, but £45 for a steak!!! No fries or sauce with that. As prices have increase portion size has dropped. My wife ordered the version main course. Two small slices of the loin arrived. I had the wood pigeon starter, this was one of the smallest starters I have ever seen. I’m not looking for huge portions but you do feel as though it’s a bit of a rip off. I don’t mind paying for good food, but at these prices!!!!. The food was average, just average

My first experience was marvellous, and the subsequent visits were hot and miss. In my latest experience, my fillet was tough and rubbery, my hand cut fries overcooked and dripping in grease. I would have scored a 1 star, but my previous experiences have rescued this to a 3.

Amazing bar staff who went above and beyond to help us surprise my brother and sister in law. We booked a 2 day trip to St Andrews at New Year and suggested that they go to the Adamson for Hogmanay drinks where we had booked a table to surprise them with our appearance. The staff brought them to our table and they were shocked to see us. Then we had some lovely cocktails. The Adamson is beautifully decorated at Christmas time and well worth a visit.

We went on Christmas Eve 2023 for a late lunch. We were met by Liam who showed us to our table. Offered us water and showed us the menu. We chose the festive menu. I had the smoked salmon, a fillet steak (small surcharge) followed by orange sticky toffee pudding. My wife had, a butternut squash with coconut and chilli oil soup, lemon Sole on the bone with a buerre noisette sauce (small surcharge), followed by cheese cake with a berry topping. The service and setting were spot-on, but the food was excellent, have no complaints at all. Would highly recommend.

Lovely food, great service. Enjoyed that there were good interesting fish/ veggie options. Had a great night and particularly appreciated not at any point feeling rushed by the waiters.
