A large hotel with great facilities. We were not happy with our first room, so asked to be moved and we were. The way our complaint was dealt with by Declan McBlain the duty manager was amazing. We invited relatives to join us for dinner in the restaurant and found the food to be delicious and reasonably priced with good service.Enjoyed the health and leisure gym too.Rooms: Parts of the hotel are ready for a refurb. But it was clean and tidy.Walkability: Good car park, and very near to castle and old town centre. Nice atmosphere in the town at night. Not rowdy at all.Food & drinks: Didn’t have breakfast, but enjoyed our dinner.

Really lovely old hotel beautiful old building was the old stirling high school the leasure facility's are excellent the hotels restaurant is 5 star plus the staff are friendly very helpful a credit too the hotel will definitely be back loved my tour around the old observatoryIn 1889 Sir Henry Campbell Bannerman gifted the school an observatory. To this day, the observatory is still in great working condition on the hotel rooftop

Dreadful service such a disappointing mother's day. Food was nice but will not be returning due to the extremely poor service we received today.

The worst hotel restaurant I've ever worked in. Chefs were dripping sweat into the soup, management is run by a single member of staff who doesn't engage with the team, and the supervisor is a seventeen year old with an attitude problem. Their chef team has a handful of staff that need firing- I've never been spoken to so badly in my life. Hygeiene issues aside, the way the wait staff were barked at was unacceptable. 17 year old supervisor wouldn't let us put a fan on in a back room during the middle of summer (the heat was enough to make us sweat through our shirts) and I was screamed at twice for knocking the quail eggs on the plates- after having to carry them down two flights of stairs to get into the restaurant. The entire place is a health and safety hazard, the front of house areas were never sanitary and it was an embarrassment to be approached by customers with complaints about the food. Stirling Highland Hotel has been on its last legs for decades, and I'm shocked it's still running. If looking for a nice place to eat, pick somewhere else.

How well I sleep is a huge factor in how I rate a hotel, and unfortunately the mattress and pillows felt like they should have been replaced years ago. I had a very uncomfortable night. The staff are great, and the breakfast was good, including gluten free options. The hotel is in a great location.

First time visiting this hotel, we just went in for drinks and sat in the headmaster's study. The building is very interesting, being an old grammar school, lovely wee bar and reasonably priced, will definitely return!

The room was good. The building is an old grammar school and has a quirky feel to it. The breakfast was excellent. The bed was double, and we asked at reception for it to be split into twins.... this was no problem. The reception staff were helpful, efficient and friendly.Nearby activities: The location is half up the hill to the castle. It's literally 5 minutes to the castle. Down the road there are many eateries and cafes.

The parking is free, you put your registration into a computer and they let Civil Enforcement Ltd know your staying at the hotel and to cancel your parking fine. The issue is if you are renting a car the car rental company will still charge you an admin charge as they will still get a parking fine notice. Cost me £70, I told the hotel, they didn't want to know.

Fabulous stay here. Staff are first class, friendly and most helpful. Special mention for Liz on reception who went above and beyond to help change room to accommodate my mum's needs. Rooms a wee bit tired but, clean. Vegetarian meal choice on menu could be better. Excellent selection for breakfast. Overall great stay.
