Very good food, staff every friendly and the covid app is amazing and easy to use. drinks are 2.80 nice n cheap and the fish n chips are yummy. enjoy if you visit.Dropped down to a 1 star 2023 this place has gone downhill sadly. Always without the meals you want, food is not fresh and the meals are disappointing or disgusting.

I was here for the bank holiday weekend. There was only two young members of staff in the front of the pub which were doing all the food orders, the drinks, serving food and condiments and clearing tables. At times the queue for a drink was almost a 10 min wait but through no fault of the staff. The management need to support these two workers they never stopped all night.I ordered a steak and when it came it was cold, I didn't complain due to not wanting to add to the workload of the two working so ate it.The management need to give the staff the support they need and not sure how they expected two young workers to be on shift in their own for a bank holiday.

Great value and service and while it looked like it might be on the cheap and nasty food side, the food was outstanding. Lovely staff, clean, great selection of drinks. Really couldnt ask for more.

Popped in for a quick bit to eat, nice bar loads of TVs with sport on ! We both had the Balmoral Burger ? ? fantastic burger with Haggis in with pepper corn sauce. (See pics) The place does want it says on the tin..Kid-friendliness: Kids welcome as loads running around.

nice food served very quickly, friendly service with a good selection of drinks and good prices. all the basics of a nice pub but it needs refurbishment desperately, the bench seats are badly ripped, the carpet is pretty sticky and, worn overall just looks tatty which is a shame both for customers and staff.

Chosen mainly as they allow dogs and I get a blue card discount, we had an average Sunday roast here. Service was great though.Google (and website) said they open at 11am, but they opened at noon. Prices were higher than the online menu too.

Long time Since been in .. well 5/07 but just for a birthday drink . Today that was Mon 28/08 we went into dine . To be honest it wasn’t our first choice as we had thought of another place to eat but at £17.95 for fish and chips and peas there we decided “ don’t think so as we knew The Custom House would let us eat drink and be happy at a lesser cost . So we saved money paying only £12.49 , steak and ale pie £10.29. A bottle of Chardonnay and a pint of draft cola . £38… ish. Yes the portions do seem to have shrunk a little as have many places but that suited me fine . Couldn’t grumble . Did what it said on the tin. As you will see not our first visit here either . Thanks guys .. home and no washing up ???

Great food, nice selection of ales and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. We arrived in Stranraer later than expected and the manager said we could still order food. What a life saver as we really didn't want takeaway food. We highly recommend this place. Well done, we will definitely be back again.

There aren't too many places to eat in Stranraer in the evening but this place is just fine. We had low expectations when we got there it has the vibe of a flat roofed sports pub but the staff were really friendly and helpful. It has a vegan and gluten-free menu. My son had a vegan burger; we had a fresh salad and chips - all good. We had booked a table but there was no need to

Absolutely spot on service. If I could give more than 5 stars I would! Danny and his better half (the boss) Charlotte, were so attentive. Superb customer service, food was hot and fresh. Condiments offered. Table service even when Charlotte is pregnant with her 5th boy! Danny was hilarious and our 2 boys (11 and 7) absolutely loved him, apparently he's funnier than Dad. Kept the boys happy and encouraged them to finish their dinner! Returning tomorrow while we're visiting Stranraer!!

The food was overpriced for the size of the meal. The table was sticky. I was told AFTER i had paid for the meal that there would be a half hour wait. Both the back door and front door were wide open yet it was pouring down outside so quite chilly inside, i asked if i could close the door as my son and i were cold and was told no as she (staff member) was roasting…not the best at customer service. There are so many other pubs that serve delicious, fresh food in Stranraer so i wont be hurrying back thats for sure.

Waited for 45 minutes and made staff aware we were there multiple times. The last query the barmaid said they were busy although it was quite empty and we still never got served. In the end we had to leave without being served.
