Our experience at this hotel was exceptional. It is the place to go for a fantastic location on Loch Awe, really good food and the staff are extremely helpful. Staff gave advice on walks, places to visit and the hotel itself. It was a perfect experience and we had lots of fun and our surroundings were beautiful.Rooms: The room was spacious and had a beautiful view. The bed was very comfortable and the facilities made you feel very relaxed.Walkability: Plenty of walks in the hotel grounds if you do not want to venture out . The hotel supplies wellies and an umbrella if you need them. Lots of walks around Loch Awe too and we also walked along Lake Orchy which was beautiful . The scenery is spectacular.Food & drinks: We were really overwhelmed by the food, how it was presented as well as the taste. Every meal was different and all courses excellent . Breakfast was ideal as there was lots of choice from full Scottish to Scottish porridge. Absolutely delicious food with great wine and you cannot forget the whisky . What more can I say - perfect

Myself and partner went with our 1 year old daughter to Ardaniaseig hotel for a treat for her birthday, via a good 5pm deal. First of all, they were excellent when changing the dates the day we were supposed to arrive, due to my daughter's ill health. We change to the following week, and weather aside, were delighted to stay.It is a beautiful old style hotel that screams haunted mansion. They really seem to embrace this vibe, as even the mens bathroom is the same eerie colours as the one from the Shining (along with a portrait of twins outside it...). I loved this vibe, there's portraits everywhere. We had dinner the first night which was beautiful. The portions could maybe be slightly bigger however the taste was sublime and we both noted there was no extra saltiness or antyhing that you get in some hotels.A word for the staff, they were so lovely to us and our daughter when we stayed. They made a big deal out of her and were so helpful for places to go and see nearby, including recommending the bar down the road for our second nights dinner. The room was beautiful and as others have said, has its quirks in a really good way. One thing I would say is they could do with some brighter lights from the car park to the main reception.I loved the roaring fires they had on and it was a perfect escape for people wanting a weekend in a remote part of Scotland, away from the city.Rooms: Beautiful and spaciousNearby activities: Lots of walking and hiking opportunitiesFood & drinks: Restaurant food was exceptional

Appalling customer service, called and expressed interest in booking a wedding and said to call back in a week if we hadn’t heard anything…been trying for months!

After reading diverse reviews (both superb and negative) I was quite curious at what to expect. In the end I really loved this place with the fires burning in the fireplaces, the classy yet individual interior and colour choices in the public spaces, the tasty food and the welcoming and very friendly staff (one even gave us diverse tips on what to do and was very knowledgeable about the area). The views are fantastic and a stroll in the gardens (wellies are complimentary) feels like walking into a Brontë or Austen novel.Yes, there are some cobwebs in some places and the water pressure in the bath is quite low (the water looking a little bit brownish due to its provenance) but that is for me part of a manor house experience. The only thing we were a little sad to see were the surrounding woodlands and other areas on the estate (e.g. the tennis court, the walled garden, the boat next to the boathouse, the jetty) that were not all well-kept. Yet, we understand that due to severe winters and storms there have been some issues and other preferences in upkeeping the place. We do hope that there will be some extra time and staff to work on these issues in the future. The place is just wonderful and charming as an independent hotel. A hotel chain taking over the place would change that special atmosphere- so we are happy to have found Ardenaiseigh with its unique character.

The property is stunning, and the historical hotel building is beautiful. We had a room with a view and could not get enough of the mesmerizing lake and mountain scenery. All the staff were also very nice and friendly. However, the hotel property itself could use some love and care. Our room windows were dirty and full of spiderwebs; carpets need a deep clean, especially to remove stains and accumulated dust; the extra bed we got was just an air mattress that kept deflating; the piano in the common area is out of tune; many of the board games in the common area were either broken or had missing pieces; quite a number of doors and wall rims are calling for paint, etc. Also, the place has very poor internet connection, so if you plan to work there and need internet it would not be possible. Overall, we had a peaceful and pleasant stay – if the management spruces up the place a bit it will be spectacular.

We arrived to check in, we were told to just wait till she had finished her conversation with her work colleague, so not the best first impressions, a bit unprofessional.Lovely grounds and setting the food was excellent and service reasonable, but could have been a bit more polished, lovely setting but lacking in service throughout. The rooms are fine but tired. Our last breakfast we came down about 8.15 am and we had to wait, the young girl was on service herself for at least half-hour and did an excellent job with half a dozen guests until the other lady showed up.Food & drinks: Food was very good, lacking in service at the bar.

First the positives, the view is of course amazing and the food in the restaurant really lovely. However, the place feels really tired and actually quite dirty. The carpet in our room was filthy and really stained . The french window and door were really dirty and a bit broken. There was no shampoo or conditioner and the toilet didn’t flush properly. It smelt really damp. There were cigarette butts in the urn as you enter the main building. It’s such a shame as when we went a couple of years ago it was really lovely. Needs a good wash and serious tl. To restore it to its former glory.

We returned with family after 24 years of marriage and fell in love with this unique and special hotel which married us on the banks of Loch Awe… it’s an incredibly romantic place with individually styled bedrooms (Tervine, Ichrachen and Hayfield are favourites for us) and the food is of very high standard. It’s like my ‘Tara’ - home from home.

We booked Ardanaisaig Hotel as a special two night birthday treat for my wife, having read good reviews in Booking.com and an overal rating in Trip Advisor of 4.5, based on over 800 past reviews. It looked like an idyllic setting but we felt totally let down by the shoddiness of the place and attitude of the staff left there. We felt cheated by the people who own the hotel and have put management in place, under contract, who are totally inept, disgruntled by the lack of investment by the owners, and consequently have a “it’s not our fault” don’t care attitude. The bedroom that we were allocated was The Orchy and it was left in a filthy state (see photos). Even after complaining to “the management” we didn’t get an apology just a blaming of someone else who should have cleaned the room, again not their fault. Even after they had supposedly cleaned the room it was still left in a shoddy state with the bathroom left with a floor so filthy we got dirty feet walking on it. We tried desperately to find other accommodation in the area without success but unfortunately none were available. In conclusion this place is not worth more than a 1 or 2 star rating and a price tag for B & B no more than £60 - not the £182.50 per night we paid. The place is a very sick old lady that desperately needs treatment, a new injection of money and a total management clear-out to bring it back to life, and a status that it’s location and history deserves. We spent 5 days in this beautiful hotel, and it was a delightful stay.A few practical comments :- The location is remote but this is rather a quality : the place is incredibly peaceful and quiet. The private parc is enough to keep you occupied for a while (you can discover many rare species, beautiful trees, charming forest, or make great walks around the loch). In addition to that, car trips to go hiking are not necessarily longer than at other places you might stay, and David will make sure to provide you with up to date information concerning the shortest way to reach your destination.- rooms are spacious, confortable, well equipped (very nice beds- and they do have a unique view on the lake). Again, this is a divine atmosphere and a top service.- We ate breakfast and dinner each day, and it was, each time, delicious and nutritious. The Chef is a real cook that uses the best regional products (scallops, sea fish, lam, venison, seasonal vegetables…) and has mastered his art. The hotel also offers vegan and kids option, that are equally tasty. In a nutshell, the food was always of a high standard and the generous breakfast is enough to last you the day. Service is impeccable.- for all the above reason, we were very pleased of our stay, and we are convinced that we had the best value for money.A few less down to earth comments- it is absolutely charming to stay in a place where the entire building has a soul, and has been decorated with the heart. Each piece has been carefully chosen by the landlord because it is special (the landlord is an antique dealer : do not expect Airbnb style, but rather « une invitation au voyage ») and in order to please you, to make you feel confortable, or to raise your interest. All the above create a unique atmosphere, cheerful (we will not say more and will let you discover the various funny treasure of the house!) and authentic.- we felt at ease the entire time thanks to the crew. Though very professional, they gave us the feeling that they knew us, they were very careful, kind and benevolent with us (says the pregnant lady!). They always made sure to answer to our question and to provide us with the best service. You can tell that they do love their job, this place and their customers. Many many sincere thanks them all.- if tou have never been to Scotland, or if you are a regular in the region, we will highly advise you to give this hotel a try. We came by curiosity / chance, stayed with great pleasure, and left with an strong will to come back.

After the Tiree Music Festival was cancelled my friends and I stayed here for 2 nights. We had the most magical weekend filled with peaceful walks through the gardens and paddling in Loch Awe. The staff were so accommodating and friendly. The breakfast and dinner was a particular highlight. There is also a perfectly tuned piano in the drawing room which was a treat to play. Overall, I would definitely recommend anyone to stay here at least once in their life.

We returned to the hotel where we married 20 years previously. The magical mystery of the Ardanaiseig Hotel is undimmed. If you are the kind of person who nitpicks on small details you may well find them. But if you’re a hopeless romantic prepared to let Ardanaiseig cast its spell then you may have the experience of a lifetime in this special corner of paradise.

My husband bought this as a deal on 5pm. It was our wedding anniversary & the rooms looked lovely on the pictures. We were allocated the room Starav. It was truly awful, like faulty towers but without the laughs! As soon as the lady showed us in she made a joke about a broken blind. Apparently on her 'list' but you need to take it down & re string it! Yes, that's your job! She put a light on, not noticing the lamp shade was very wonky! Then off she went. The wallpaper was pealing off the wall, it must have got damp at some point. There was a damp musty smell in the bathroom. The bed!! Oh the bed, what a joy for an anniversary, was like sleeping on rocks & 2 beds pushed together, watch out for the crack in the middle. Dinner was mediocre, bread was offered but it was dry & hard, we noticed that the server put some on other tables, uncovered on a damp Scottish evening. Lucky my husband was able to get a beer but only one, they hadn't had a delivery. Their cappuccino machine was broken, I suspect for some time. The whole hotel is tired & dated & dirty. You can tell it needs a very deep clean. A total waste of £150 & an anniversary we won't get back.

A quaint and lovely old house. Right beside Loch Awe. Fabulous staff and although the menu is restricted it changes and is of excellent quality. It is a very quiet and relaxing location. Wifi is slow but that just adds to the relaxed atmosphere and didn't bother me a tall. We will return!

I would have given it zero stars if I could. The rooms were super mediocre with dirty towels and stained bed sheets, to the point that i found myself checking this supposedly 4-star hotel room for bed bugs. the shower was broken and you could visibly see molds around the tiles. The worst parts of the experience however were the staff and the food. Breakfast was probably the worst I had in my entire trip in Scotland. The staff, very rude and grumpy. The breakfast table was absolutely ridiculous. We had to ask separately for water, for glasses to drink water, for salt and pepper, for coffee, and few other items that at any descent hotel, you would have anticipated to be brought to you. When we asked for these items, the waiter (who we later realized was also the manager), waved a dismissal gesture at us and told us he had other guests to attend to. When we complained about their attitude, they responded by calling us rude and inconsiderate for needing too many things (basically, coffee, drinking glasses, salt and pepper, lemons, and butter). Keep in mind, It is not a buffet so things need to be brought to you. The breakfast was also very low in quality, the haggis tasted pretty awful. Also items were mostly tossed at the table every time they brought something to us. Eventually they charged us 35 pounds for this absolute garbage they served us. We will never ever go back, good luck to you if you choose to go!
