The hotel is in a nice location. The rooms are spartan and would benefit from simple updates: lightbulbs in the wall lamps, fresh paint, extenders for wifi, etc. Breakfast was included and it was good.

I have stayed in 100s of hotels both for work and holidays, but this is the worst of them all. If there was a rating below 1 star I would have ticked that. Shockingly terrible.There was no Internet. Mobile network struggled. The carpets were dated, dirty and sticky. It looked like it was built hundreds of years ago and no improvement or modernization done since then. Beds were terrible. I woke up with pains on my back, waist and neck after just one night. Food was tasteless and badly cooked. Service intolerable, they said they lacked staff. Loud noise coming from the heating system that kept me up all night.Rooms: Room was like a basement style. Had to walk down a funny part to get to assigned room. Quite small. Shower doors struggled to close. Windows couldn't open and had a bricked wall for a view.Food & drinks: Cooked terribly. Tasteless. Worst English breakfast I have ever had.

For me the bed was hard. The room could do with a bit of paint on the walls. Over all it was a nice stay for me. The young lady who checked me in was very polite and friendly and helpful. Parking was good.

We can only agree with everything previous reviewers have stated about the bedrooms. Given these other reviews, no improvements have been made to rectify people's comments and concerns. Do management even read or care what customers have to say. On two of the hottest September nights the window could not be opened. The blind didn't work - my husband had to stand on the window sill to manually wind it up and down. The room was not serviced. Two tiny coffee cups, one saucer, no teaspoon. Give us mugs for our morning cuppa please. Dodgy wiring, uncomfortable bed. Poor breakfast choices, although our evening meals in the actual pub were very nice, with good choices. No one turned up to serve breakfast on our second morning until gone 9am. Lots of guests were waiting. Staff eventually arrived, but no apology or explanation was forthcoming. We will not be visiting again.

We had a great stay at the anchorage Hotel, the staff are very friendly and the breakfast was lovely, the location is spot on too, if your looking for no frills overnight stay the anchorage is perfect and we would definitely stay again.
