I felt nothing but sorry for these animals. They all looked so incredibly sad. Their enclosures are very dirty and don’t look maintained at all. We actually had to leave early it was just that sad. Also still had Christmas decorations up in March which was just strange. The red headed young woman at the counter barely even bothered talking to us. We visited the gift shop after and she was that busy talking and giggling with her friend that she didn’t even realise we were at the till. Not worth £18 each. The toilets as-well are filthy and smell awful. Also don’t come here expecting to be able to grab a drink or a snack cause all snack vans weren’t even open. Expected to spend the day there barely even spent the afternoon.

Although our visit to the zoo was a great experience for the whole family I can’t say the same for the restaurant area. When we went in the tables had not been cleared from previous diners and we had to do so ourselves, we then ordered our food and waited a hour after ordering to receive our orders that were then brought out one at a time. I get that it was busy but the service could have been so much better especially when the staff were standing about talking rather than assisting their customers.

A good day outDon’t let the industrial park vibe at the start deter you: The exhibits are good! The layout is a bit funky: Hard to navigate and frequent signage is lacking, bathrooms favor the start (none near the far exhibits), and the nice cafe is behind office building and random kitchen block.Hadn’t caught the snow leopard yet, maybe next time. But the Eurasian Linux and Scottish wild cats are lovely. Really liked the cheetah exhibit as well. Good mix of species, even got parree dogs!Soft play to boot, cafe is opposite of it. Though wish a little less kid distractions would be niceGot lucky after lunch and caught snow leopard! Over all a nice way to spend half a day to a full day with your kids.

This is a stunningly unique special zoo in the heart of West Lothian. The Zoo is a family run business which has a wonderful heartwarming story about it which started out nearly 20 years when a local couple purchased some land in the local area with a view to starting a garden centre but started collecting animals that people no longer wanted or needed re-homing due to their passion for animals and as the collection grew and the need from the local council to a zoo licence which brought about the birth of the zoo. It is this story that is what makes this place very so special and shows how incredible it is. This story is told on informative information displays just after you have entered the zoo. This heartwarming story also shows a real dedication to it and this is shown by the way the animals are looked by staff who are very dedicated, diligent and hardworking to maintain very high standards and also how amiable and friendly the staff are with visitors where they are amiable and very helpful. There are a variety of animals to see such as African Lions, Snow Leopards, European Brown Bears, Asiatic Black Bear, Gibbons, Spider Monkeys, Black and White Ruffled Lemurs, Ring Tailed Lemurs, African Dwarf Crocodile, Snakes, Spectacled Caiman, Humboldt Penguins, Arctic Wolves, Prairie Dogs, Eurasian Lynx and a Cheetah amongst others and all of these of animals are extremely well looked by the dedicated staff and their enclosures are very well maintained. There are some characters amongst the animals showing the great stimulation and attention they get from the staff and also how used to seeing people they are and also you can catch a great glimpse of the animals up close in their enclosures. There are some information boards outside the animal enclosure detailing where they are from and their lifestyle, which makes for a good read. The other heartwarming story about this place is that some of the animals in particular the Lions and The Asiatic Black Bear are rescue animals from other zoos giving these animals of another of having a great life they may never have had. The heartwarming story behind the zoo makes it definitely one of the best Zoos in Scotland and is certainly a good rival to Edinburgh Zoo for those wanting a less hectic and more relaxed view of the animals and walk around. The Zoo also gets it names from the five local Shale Bings that you can see nearby. There is a cafe on site selling a variety of food and drink at reasonable prices and also the gifts has a wonderful range of souvenirs at reasonable and affordable prices. Overall this is one of the best zoos I have ever visited and makes for a memorable, pleasureable and enjoyable day out with a heartwarming and wonderful story at the heart of it. This place was also a pleasure to visit and I would strongly recommend this place to anyone who loves animals and has a passion for them as it will warm your heart. This place is also worth visiting whilst in the West Lothian area.

Alot of the animals were clearly stressed out especially the emu and wolf pacing back and forwards over and over and tapping the glass. The enclosures and husbandry for tarantulas, giant African land snails and leopard gecko were absolutely horrific. Poor gecko had wrong lamps. Wrong substrate, not enough hides .. I could go on. The tarantula enclosures are too small. Not enough substrate and lack offoliage, but that will be for the sake of visitors. After all its about money . The poor giant African land snails enclosure was big enough for 2 snails maximum but was ram packed with them. The sizes weren't safe for them to live together . Total lack of substrate for them to burrow . It was very upsetting to see as someone who has all of the animals . Those poor animals deserve adequate care and clearly aren't getting it

Pretty disappointing for the money. The Christmas lights around the whole place just gave a strange sense of abandonment round the park. The staff were extremely unfriendly and not one person smiled or interacted. I completely understand they are busy doing their jobs but the lack of interaction just added to the unwelcome vibe of the park. Maybe better at Christmas time

Our family had a lovely day out here lots of animals to see very good information and lots of Space. Very reasonable Prices we are a family of 6. Its February so there was no Bears,Lions or Tigers to see wondering if its due to the winter months. We will come back when its warmer to see. Kids loved walking around, after we had been to the gift shop we popped into the soft play, gave my review of 4 Stars as you had to Pay for That separately. Cafe in there is very basic. Staff on the grounds were polite. So overall It was a good wee day out.

What an amazing zoo. Surprised to see so many animals out and about on such a chilly day. Really enjoyed seeing them all but particular highlights included the fruit bats, the playful otters, the talking parrots, the cheeky cheetahs and the wolves which were just on the other side of the fence. Great close up view. Plenty of parking either in the large car park directly beside the zoo building or in the overflow car park across the road. Snack van inside park serving hot drinks and snacks. Chips not gluten free but the ones in the cafe at the main entrance are. Disabled access. A brilliant day out.

SUPER PLACE!A great range of animals housed in well thought out exibit areas. Lots of information to hand, particularly in respect of the commendable conservation work taking place.Very child-friendly with play areas, good sized and reasonable priced restaurant, friendly staff, and free parking. I was particularly impressed with how easy and inexpensive the zoo has made it for the public to play their part by sponsoring the animals. Terrific day out - well worth a visit. Well done 5 Sisters Zoo and staff.

A lovely day out for a couple or a family. The zoo has very spacious enclosures for the animals that live on site, most often adequate living quarters with a more open, interactive enclosure. Producing a far superior atmosphere to that of other zoos.Sadly when visiting all of the food and drink stalls were closed but this can mainly be put down to it being the tail end of winter.
