Popped in for lunch on our way back to Bristol, Found the staff very friendly and helpful and the food was to a good standard, well priced, tasy and fresh.

Gluten free sicky toffee pudding and custard is Coeliac heaven. Slightly old fashioned vibe but in the sense of serving good food and providing friendly helpful service. Sat upstairs and kept finding new seating areas.

Super little b&b, really nicely furnished and super comfortable. Breakfast was excellent.

Lovely welcome, comfortable room, but would've been perfect if we had summer duvets.

Brilliant location at the heart of Bishop's Castle, just on the edge of the Market Place. Short walk to fish & chip takeaway, Indian restaurant, Chinese takeaway, and pubs. B&B itself is very old, with lots of original and characterful features. Although breakfast advertised from 8.30am, they accommodated my earlier departure time and served me breakfast at 8am, which was much appreciated. I had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs with toast, but full English and kippers also available. Room had everything I needed and was en suite. Couldn't fault it. Plenty of free on street parking nearby, and free car parks within walking distance.

Lovely cafe, showing off the artwork of local artists on the walls. Good service, and I was able to secure my bike around the back.

Outstanding and excellent value. Our room was spotlessly clean, with nice touches such as proper milk in the fridge (no UHT nonsense), bottles of sparking and still water on arrival (even though the water from the tap is fine to drink) and cotton buds and cotton wool balls in the bathroom. Perhaps the best breakfast I’ve had in any UK hotel, at any price. Options of kippers and smoked salmon, but the full English was a real treat, all cooked to order, so no lukewarm – or frazzled – or dry – stuff from a buffet. Our room faced towards the bell tower referred to elsewhere, but it was pretty quiet and didn’t disturb our sleep. Super friendly staff too. Nothing to criticise here.

How can you advertise breakfast and not open until 10?

Excellent value; we'll be back! We neded somewhere central with bike storage and a good breakfast to fuel us on our way and this was perfect. Fresh milk was a nice touch. It is a very old building so would be a dificult place to stay for anyone with mobility issues.

Lovely character property with a great breakfast and warm welcome. Fridge in room was a nice touch to keep the milk and bottled water cool. Would certainly stay here again. Thank you for the Three Tuns dinner recommendation!

Another lovely stay at the Poppy House (in Bishops Castle) , we return every year. House full of character. I stayed in no 4 called the Robert Plant room because he once stayed there!. Delicious cooked breakfast , comfy room with mini fridge. Run by lovely family including Julie and Clive who are very welcoming. They also run a cafe in day time with lovely scones, home cooked soup and food. House at top of hill , near lots of interesting independent shops relating to crafts , books, antiques, clothes etc. Also some galleries. Many real ale pubs eg Three Tuns with Brewery nearby, Six Bells, Vaults Pub does music sometime, Castle Hotel. Beautiful church at bottom hill. Sometimes flea/food market at Town Hall. Bishops Castle interesting town with lots character and artsy/crafty vibe.
