I was quite excited discovering this nicely appearing restaurant few days ago but greatly disappointed a few days later that it was in my view, actually just a common pub grab eatery. I let it pass more than 48 hours before writing this, in hope not to succumb to the anger which I was left with. I ordered what they pompously call “venison and smoked bacon pasta”. It was really nothing more than a handful of dry macaroni and venison nowhere to be found other than in the menu. When asked by waitress why I left it untouched, I responded I did not like it. She only acknowledged and would adjust our bill. Sadly, that was not the case and for my complaint, we were severely punished. In my experience a decent restaurant, a patron would be asked if s/he would like to order anything else, but I suspect the kitchen was about to close so regrettably, it was to be missed. Admittedly, the beer, (hand cut) chips and my other half meal (Cod fillet) was reasonable, hence 2 stars, as opposed to no stars at all. I’ll visit this place (maybe) one day in a remote future in hope that the management would change and that I was proved to have been wrong with this review.

Gorgeous boutique hotel with spacious rooms, super clean and a lovely restaurant. Meals and wine were all fantastic and the service was excellent. It's also in a great little spot near a well- stocked farmshop and a plant centre.

We visited The Clive Arms in September for my brother’s stag do and really enjoyed the experience. We dined in the Plassey room, which was the perfect size for our group of 10 and had a nice, warm atmosphere. It was great to have our own space as we didn’t have to worry about imposing on the other guests, which can often be an issue with larger groups. The staff were friendly and accommodating, the food was delicious, and being able to pre-order made things very easy on the night of our visit. Would definitely recommend to all, and will happily visit again in the future!

Lovely place. The room was spotless and had everything we needed for our short stay. The bar and the lounge were really cosy and chilled. The cafe next door offered a lovely breakfast. The one fault for us was the evening meal menu. If you don't eat meat or fish, there is only one option... a veg chilli. We don't like chilli, so we had to go into town and ended up with chips and curry sauce ?. If the Clive put more vegetarian options on the menu, it would have been perfect. If you're not veggie, then you won't be able to fault it.

Someone who stays over at the Clive Arms every Christmas and loves it, recommended it to me and knowing I was going to be in the area, I booked myself in for a Sunday lunch treat which was absolutely delicious. I chose the pork roast from the Sunday Set Menu (2 courses £25 or 3 courses £30) and wasn't disappointed. There are plenty of other options available. Fresh, quality produce - roast pots, roasted swede, braised carrot, seasonal greens, separate sml dish of cauliflower cheese, yorkshire pud and gravy. For dessert I had Walled garden damson & apple crumble with custard (GF), also delicious. Ice cream option also available.Looked to me like it's had a recent refurbishment which has been done to a high standard and is very tasteful.Liked this place very much and will definitely go back

Staff are very rude. The tables are stinking and the food wasn't worth the money you spend. The waitress manager had her finger in her ear and then brought the food out. I we didn't even get to the main course and we got up and left. Save your money and go elsewhereNoteworthy details: Don't even bother
