I dine at the French pantry every time I visit Ludlow. It is my favourite French restaurant. The food is always great , the atmosphere reminiscent of a French bistro in France and the staff service is excellent. For me, it is like stepping into a bistro in Paris, laid back, relaxed yet great, simple, traditional French food.Book to avoid disappointment as it's only a small place.

Our favourite restaurant in Ludlow by a country mile. ?

Day tripping in Ludlow we had an excellent lunch at The French Pantry. We had decided to book just in case, which turned out to be wise as they were fully booked by the time we arrived for our lunch. Typical French cuisine full of flavour with quality ingredients. I immensely enjoyed my salmon and Brie starter, as well as my duck / Toulouse sausage cassoulet main bristling with flavour. My daughter enjoyed the escargot starter. Both my wife and daughter found the mussels main to be of excellent flavour and quality. The wine was good. The staff were welcoming and the service perfect. I can thoroughly recommend this charming restaurant.

A lucky find when visiting Ludlow for a couple of nights. Authentic French cuisine with some unusual and successful pairings (salmon and brie, for example). Excellent food, short but decent wine list and great service. We had a lovely evening and would highly recommend this superb restaurant.

First time we had been to this lovely restaurant. It’s a great little find, a cosy restaurant serving fantastic French cuisine. For starters we had the bouillabaisse and the snails both were perfect the bouillabaisse was full of flavour and the snails were cooked beautifully and full of garlic and parsley as they should be ! Mother had Duck for main and said it was wonderful and I had the cassoulet which was bursting with flavour. Lovely frangipan for desert washed down with an exquisite bottle of Beaujolais Bon a petit !!

Absolutely wonderful as usual. Thank you so much for our wonderful evening meal on 23rd December. Took my son and his Belgian partner. Food was fabulous. Service and atmosphere was perfect. Have already recommended to friends.

This is a lovely place, very clean and cosy, the service is quick and efficient, could be a bit more animated but otherwise fine. The food is absolutely fantastic. Everything we had from starter to desert was of excellent quality and presentation. The bouillabaisse was to die for. We truly enjoyed our evening and for just under £40 per head for a 3 course meal at that quality it's also very reasonably priced. We paid about £114 for two including an excellent bottle of wine and a prosecco as well as water on the table, which is great value for money. We'll definitely visit again. One of the best restaurants in Ludlow for sure.

We made only one mistake! We could only book a table at 7.45 pm which meant we didn't eat till about 8.30. (We are elderly and eating rich food late at night is not a good idea!) That said, the food was rich and tasty and huge (I mean really huge!) portions. We had a bottle of Picpoul de Pinet which was truly memorable. I began with cod cheeks with moules in bouillabaisse sauce which was fantastic. My wife had crab mousse in bouillabaisse sauce, also excellent, with loads of cream. For our main course we both chose Coq au Vin, absolutely impossible to eat it all. Excellent again. For some reason they served this with pommes frites which we did not eat. Food was authentically salty and rich. Not cheap, but worth the money; but take my advice, visit at lunch time or early evening.
