Two people who run it are very friendly and efficient. We just called in for coffee which was delicious. No food available because they were closing for a couple of weeks for alterations . We'll certainly go back when in the area .would live to see what they're having done.

Unfortunately they were not serving much food. We had a drink and left. The place is small and it felt a bit squashed in. The staff were lovely ?

Lovely place for an afternoon tea with your dog! Went here with my dog and didn't feel awkward enjoying a solo afternoon tea, they even gave me a treat for my dog. Lovely staff and atmosphere, will be going back for a Sunday roast soon!

Everything about our experience was amazing. The staff were lovely, friendly & professional. The afternoon tea & cocktails were lovely! We couldn’t manage all of the afternoon tea so the waitress kindly boxed up our leftovers. I can’t wait to return with friends for afternoon tea.

Lovely spot for a quiet breakfast. Food was great, a nice selection that is well prepared, presented and portioned.

Our first venture into Market Drayton since moving and we spotted The ButterCross and thought we’d give it a try, and I’m so glad we did! The service was relaxed but still professional, we took our little dog in with us and they were very friendly and happy to have him too (And he was happy for his breakfast biscuit!). We ordered two veggie breakfasts with poached and scrambled egg - my partner has always said it’s a ‘risky move’ to order scrambled eggs while out but these had to be the best I’ve had! They were creamy and rich. The whole breakfast was lovely - don’t get me wrong I thought at first £10 for a veggie breakfast sounded a lot but it’s definitely worth every penny. You get your moneys worth and me and my partner were full afterwards! We got 2 vegan sausages, eggs, beans, 2 big hash-browns, mushrooms, tomatoes, and a slice of toast, and it was all cooked really well too. We were also intrigued by the wide variety of gins and alcohol behind the bar so we might have to visit again soon later on in the day! All in all, I would highly recommend The ButterCross, and will definitely be visiting again!

Always worth a visit when we come from Derbyshire to go to our optician in MD. The Buttercross is our goto fave eatery...never disappoints.

What a wonderful place. I took my wife here for breskfast. The service was very good and we were made to feel welcom. The food is very good and I can recomend the Popeye. The poached eggs were perfection and had wonderful golden yolks. The coffee is very good too. Cannot wait to go again.

Although the afternoon tea was fine, it was a little disappointing that we didn't actually get what was advertised. I wasn't really able to say anything at the time as it was a gift and the person who got it was with me. It lacked atmosphere, there was no welcome from the staff, they just looked bored to be there and the kitchen was quite nosiy to. The sandwiches we got were not the prawn and crayfish or avacado sandwiches which are on your menu online, we got standard lunchbox sandwiches of cheddar cheese and tomato and tuna mayo and the raspberry lemon possets were also missing. If there is a change in menu this really should have been said at the time of booking (booked a few days in advance), when we were shown to our table or even when the food arrived (we had to ask what was in each). Unfortunately I won't be returning or recommending this bistro anytime soon. Also I did receive an email asking how my visit was, I replied with the above and am still waiting for a reply.

Used Buttercross for over 18 months always been top notch but since chef left and our last 2 visits the food as been terrible. I use local places where I can but unfortunately will not be using again. Also they had a temporary menu yesterday without any notice such a shame .

Disappointing birthday visit. My mum booked this last Friday (over a week in advance) face to face with a manager to make sure the afternoon tea would cover dietary requirements. When arrived we were sat on a table upstairs with a birthday balloon for her - nice touch. Once we ordered a tea and coffee. The afternoon tea arrived, or some version did anyways. What was meant to arrive was all gluten free all no meat and 1 no egg. However this was not what arrived. We received a gluten free plate of sandwiches including lots of egg then a stand of regular sandwiches including sausage rolls. Major error here so we sent this all back. 20 minutes later we received a plate piled up with all gluten free sandwiches, not presented remotely acceptably and not at all up to what the menu states. We again had to speak to a server (manager wasn’t there) and explain this is still not correct and we are unhappy due to this being a birthday meal out. We were then given complimentary Prosecco as an apology and waited a further 35 minutes for the correct food to arrive. Hugely disappointing in the chefs having no drive or passion to want to make this order correct. Credit to the waiting staff being as apologetic as they could be especially the supervisor who realised it wasn’t ok what we received at the start. Thankfully the food we got in the end was nice and was closer to what the menu stated however no substitute for the meat sausage roll or pork pie - we just got lots of sandwiches. Dessert selection good for gf vg and took them home due to being full off all the bread. Overall this was not a good visit and the hour of no food just drink was a complete waste of our time. I would not visit here again and would not recommend. Sticking to chains as quality control seems to be a lot better!
