We visited on a Saturday night when they had 'Steak night' . The main menu was also available so two of us had the sirloin and the other had cauliflower and broccoli bake. Everything was absolutely delicious. It was so nice to visit a pub that served home made food and wasn't just another 'chain' pub. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the atmosphere in the pub was great. We will definitely return.

Went for my partner's birthday and we were very well looked after, gorgeous food, excellent service and fantastic atmosphere. Thankyou for the birthday boy's birthday song everyone! Really good fun tonight and my young children were made to feel very welcome too. Thankyou for making the evening lovely.

A lovely place for a meak, with plenty of choice on the menu. The lovely lady who cooked the pie of the day was very attentive and keen to know how it was (beautifully cooked by the way).Atmosphere lovely, locals friendly, roaring fire very welcome on a cold day. Looked after the presentation of my daughter's birthday cake. A lovely evening had by us all.

Classic pub food served in a warm cosy and friendly little village pub. Had an amazing rum and our little furry family member was made to feel right at home. Would definately visit again.

A proper, unpretentious country pub. Good company, lovely owner and staff, tasty home-made country cooking, Joules beers. Dog friendly, a great place to sit and chat. Paul Whitehouse and Bob Mortimer loved it on a visit when filming their fishing programme (Series 6 Episode 4).

Only had a drink but I have to say what a really friendly and welcoming pub this is. Got talking to a local guy and a very interesting person he turned out to be. Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse visited during a episode of "Gone Fishing"

If you want more than an empty pub then you need to welcome visitors. I was on my first night of a holiday in the Cheswardine area and as such I was a stranger to this pub. But that's no excuse for a surly service. The young woman behind the bar had attitude and could barely raise a smile. I wanted to come back during my stay. However I couldn't be bothered to face another dose of rudeness. In contrast, everyone else I met in the surrounding villages were so welcoming and lovely. Cheswardine is a great place to visit. But if you are a visitor and want a good night out with a friendly service then you may want to consider another pub.
