Been here numerous times to purchase from the cakes and hot counter.Prices have increased quite a lot and the customer service is none existent. Miserable and unfriendly staff, who perhaps shouldn’t work in a customer based environment.Staff need to change their approach or change their line of work !

Rarely do I get to say that a place is truly great but this place is one in a million. The atmosphere in this very old building is just right ,it may have difficult stairs to climb for those of us in later years but it is worth every stair and the service & food served could not be faulted.

We have been coming to Walkers Cafe for a number of years now, the staff are all nice and friendly, the food is very good. I especially like the cheese they use which is from a local maker. The service is always good, even on a Saturday when it's so busy.Definitely recommend.

Went for an impromptu lunch. Parked nearby and loved the building so walked in. Upstairs is the restaurant, which all looks original. Service was friendly. Good menu with good prices.

Highly recommended.Bought a birthday cake made by the staff for my wife. It was excellent and great value for money. I’ve bought my lunch for here quite a lot too and it’s been excellent every time. Staff are very professional, polite and nothing is too much trouble. Great place.

Chester Tourist

An excellent example of a medieval half timbered building.Located in the town centre just up the hill.On the ground floor is a bakery / sandwich shop, and on the top floor up a steep staircase is an old worldy cafe that looks like you are in a pub. The inside is preserved so you can see all the old oak timbers. The prices are cheap as it is a down to earth greasy spoon type cafe, but very good.I am not sure about parking as I came from Chester on the Number 41 Bus.

A wonderful atmospheric room, full of old beams. The photos on this site don’t do it justice! Lovely lunch, good coffee, friendly efficient service! A lovely find, and we will be back!

Visited this establishment this morning based on a recommendation. The place was lovely and traditional and we decided to have a Coronation Chicken baguette. The customer service from the elderly lady serving was severely lacking and after spending £8 on 2 baguettes I had the audacity to ask for a carrier bag, to which was told it'd be 20p.I don't carry cash, I said I don't have 20p on me to which in short thrift was told "well you can't have one then!"Great shop... poor service over 20p

Great handmade sandwich’s and cakes. The ladies making the sandwiches are great, but I have to agree one of them is very grumpy. (Other people said the same on here) but to be honest I go out of my way to be over polite to her, that tends to make her more grumpy ? all in all, good food and 99% of staff kind and
