After a long journey, despite the late hour and the closed kitchen, the host offered to prepare a warm meal for us and treated us to an incredible, delicious and tasty fish burger. We were invited inside as it was getting cold, even though they were technically closed. Most of the ingredients are made on-site by the chef, which is a huge plus of this place! We will definitely return there! I highly recommend it.

A charming garden and a hidden gem!We ate in the garden and it was gorgeous! (The pub is currently being refurbed). The staff, and service were fab and really friendly!Lovely setting amongst wildflowers. We shared the beef brisket burger and the smoked salmon burger, both absolutely delicious! And topped off with a yum banoffee pie! We’ll be back again, and to visit the smokehouse shop!

As soon as possible you must try this place!! When it reopens in whatever format , high end or very high end, this is a gem you don't want anyone to know about!! If you can get on a guest list for any event here , you must attend!! You will not be disappointed!!! 10/10 ,??????‍?

Very reluctant to share a review on this place because I want to keep it secret...... but thats only because its the best place we've ever eaten!! We got back as often as we can, the food is professionally prepared and presented to an excellent standard. The staff will do anything to make you feel welcome and the location.....well, just idyllic! Please don't go.....we found it first! ?

We were staying at a b&b near by and walked along to the Wheatsheaf pub 2 evening’s...the first evening we enjoyed a salmon burger brioche bun and coleslaw ..the second evening we were lucky enough to enjoy fresh scallops ....The owner Johnathan also showed us around the smokery ...good family business ......

During lockdown there is very little to get excited about but having previously eaten at the Wheat Sheaf I was reminded by a friend that although the pub was currently closed the Smokery was still open and sold fresh fish. So on Friday I popped in to get some treats for the weekend. I thought I’d just pick up some fresh fish for dinner but was pleasantly surprised to see the extensive range of fresh produce for sale. Not only did I come away with fresh fish, veg, eggs and bread I was drawn to trying the takeaway food that you can take home and prepare yourself and decided on the brisket with dauphinois potatoes. The on line tutorials were easy to follow and the end result was fantastic and our meal was as good as it is when it’s served in the pub. Congratulations to the team at the Wheat Sheaf for finding new ways to serve great food to your customers. We will be back very soon and thoroughly recommend a visit to the Smokery to anyone else who asks me.

Due to current restrictions the pub could only provide outside services only. The food and service is excellent. Everyone is so friendly in trying to provide the best in difficult circumstances.

We have eaten here quite a few times, always during the week. We normally cycle here, but this time drove. The menu always has something interesting and different. This time hubbie had monkfish with mustard mash; I chose calves liver with mash. I had 3 lovely pieces of thin, beautifully- cooked liver and a huge pile of mash that I could not finish. We ordered a dish of vegetables between us, as they are needed with the main courses. There is always a good choice of vegetables, although hubbie is not fond of the Charanty carrots. The food is a little more expensive here than other places, but it is always good. The desserts are good, although we did not have any on this occasion. Cost of lunch with one large glass of wine and one water - £45 with tip. Afterwards, I’d recommend that you visit their smokery shop and pick up some lovely goodies.

Had lunch there today, all 4 of us loved it, genuinely unpretentious very VERY good food, reasonably priced and with friendly knowledgeable staff. Thank you, we will definitely return!

we came here with friends for whom this is a favourite eatery. We reserved a table for a dismal saturday evening. The pub was quiet. I had salmon for starter and although tasty was no different to the supermarket salmon you buy at christmas. For main a lovely piece of braising beef, on smoky mash and gravy, veg was extra cost. I always have veg with my meat and mash so feel it should be included in the cost. Lovely small selection of draught beer. Staff very helpful and attentive. Had a good night with my friends but I must confess I was a little disappointed as the reviews all rave about the food. I would return with those friends but wouldn't bother otherwise.
