Good food, good service and a nice spot to stop on your way along the canal. You can make reservations for a visit or just pop in.

Friendly staff but table service slow . Delivery of food between courses very long winded and slow to arrive. One member of our party had a cold starter served and it had to be returned to the kitchen ,the replacement did not arrive until after everyone else had finished leaving this guest feeling awkward. The mains took an extremely long time to arrive and when they did they arrived lukewarm and the meat was not pleasant and the mains were hardly touched by any off us . When it came to the desert ,again one member of the party was left with no desert being served at the same time as the rest of the party and there was a long wait for their desert to arrive . This wait was on top of the long wait in between courses . In total it took nearly 2 and half hours for our food to arrive from our being seated and the desert being finished at least an hour and forty five mins of that was waiting for food to arrive .Although the pub looks pleasant and feels friendly and the atmosphere seems good. Such poor service time and poor quality food means we are unlikely to return there for food again . Which is a shame as the staff we did encounter all seemed pleasant and friendly. The building itself is inviting ,although the toilets could do with a good clean especially around the walls and floor area. It is close to the water and the grounds outside are inviting , any future visits will be for a drink only . We spent over £150 on food and drink and I can honestly say it was not well spent. For the food quality we would have been better of with a lukewarm burger from McDonald’s or a kfc family bucket as it would have been more edible .Shame as the pub does have a pleasant atmosphere with what seems to be a good team of staff .

Called in for lunch with friends. Service was really good but the food was a little disappointing. Those that had a starter - creamy garlic mushrooms said it was a bit cold. My main, a special, was bangers and mash. For £17 I'd have hoped for more than 2 fairly normal sized sausages. The mash had a strange consistency to it, it tasted ok but was oddly sticky, like wallpaper paste. Overall the food was ok, but nothing to write home about given the pricing. 1 starter and 2 mains, with a couple of soft drinks each was over £50. If that's your price point, then the food needs to be better in my view

Recently visited the George Inn last weekend, and without question one of the best pubs in the area. The food was great and so was the service, a special thanks to Neve for her help and lovely hospitality.

Lovely location. A bit understaffed on my visit and the pastry on my mushroom and ale pie was, um, soggy.
