I love this pub, the beautiful location, building, the best service by Alex and the others, as well as excellent food. It has the whole package for me.

Our daughter is a student at Bath Uni and this year is living in a flat on this side of Bath. We first went to The Packhorse for a meal as she is coeliac, so needs to eat gluten free, and we saw lots of good reports on gluten free options there. It was so good we have now been back 2 more times. The waiters have all been really clued up on gluten free and coeliac requirements and the food has been really enjoyable for all of us. Lovely traditional inn with loads of character. Will definitely be back next time we visit her.

Congratulations to all those who were responsible for the restoration of this fabulous pub for the village. We are so glad we visited and were very impressed by what you've achieved! Your staff are really lovely too! Well done! ?.Vegetarian options: Melanzana parmigiana

Stopped at the pub for a drink and a roast dinner. Lovely outdoor garden with beautiful views. Staff were all very friendly and polite. The food was fantastic, arguably the best roast dinner I’ve had and our waiter Louis was lovely, polite and provided us with a brilliant and prompt service. Highly recommend coming here for a drink and Sunday roast

Very nice and cosy atmosphere with the wood-burning fireplace lit in very charming seventeenth-century rooms. Very tasty food and particularly kind service. There are all the conditions to want to return soon! Highly

Another dreamboat roast at the packhorse, love this place and the team! Served by Louis who was a total gem, nothing was too much trouble for him. Will be back again for sure ??

Nothing negative to say. Would recommend it on almost every level. One star down as beef tough, as topside often is. I even asked if it was tender which was rather naive! Would have chicken another time.

Visitors from the south east of England were thrilled to find the Packhorse.
Fantastic cooking in a beautiful country pub, so close to the city. Felt really cosy on a wintery evening, with a fire and room for our dog.

We visited on a weekday lunchtime as it marked the halfway point of a circular walk from Midford. It was the second time we have dropped by on a lunchtime. There is a warm and friendly welcome and everything is refreshingly informal. I had steak and wild mushroom pie, my friend had fish and chips. We both thought our food was excellent. I must say my poor was sensational. Nice selection of local drinks too. Highly recommended. We will definitely be visiting again.

Lovely community owned and historic pub. Atmospheric and friendly. Hard to fault.
