Beautiful afternoon tea ? Plenty of choice - warm scones with fresh clotted cream and jam, a selection of white and brown finger sandwiches with salmon and cream cheese, cream cheese and cucumber roast beef and horseradish, and some ham and mustard too. 2 slices of lemon cheese cake, carrot cake, chocolate mirror cake and finally some macarons) All of which were served with good rich coffee or piping hot tea. Deliciously fresh, and super yummy! ? Too much for us to finish but we were provided with some takeaway boxes so got to enjoy it all again for tea. Would recommend to all ?

Return to have a second meal. The first was not good. The management rightly so accepted responsibility and granted a further visit. This visit was very good. We upgraded to a fillet steak which was excellent. The service was attentive and professional. The down side to this experience is you have to "pay the hotel" reception to park ; by the hour!! I would have though considering we were using the restaurant spending money on food and bar the parking would have been gratis.

Visited in Feb this year and was impress. Visited again In November very underwhelming the starter turned up before our drinks we ordered! My wife enjoyed her steak but mine was over done from what i had ordered. Yet again we had to ask a second time where are the drinks we had ordered. All for the lovely price of £110, it's just a shame i had bought a black friday voucher before our visit. Because i think i would prefer to go to Miller & Carter in Taunton (Beter steak and better service) then visit again.

It was OK. I was expecting something a little more classy. Food was pleasant but nothing amazing. My son's ham and egg was very plain and I've seen much better in pubs. Service was slow despite us being the only people there to start with. We were left for 15 minutes before even being offered drinks. Will not be coming back. It was comfortable but no atmosphere to speak of.

As this was my first Sunday in Somerset on this particular trip, my niece and her husband chose this restaurant to meet for a Sunday roast. The staff were welcoming and friendly, but busy at times. We each ordered a drink while our meals were being prepared. My beer was decent enough, so no complaints there. Our meals arrived after a short wait, but not overly so. The one thing that I miss living in Melbourne is the British pubs serving a delicious Sunday roast. They certainly have come a long way since we lived in Somerset many years ago. Whenever my better half and I manage to spend some time in Somerset on holiday, I look forward to the traditional pub Sunday roast. Although this restaurant is part of the Mercure hotel, they still serve a decent Sunday roast. My beef was cooked just the way I like it. Naturally roast beef is nothing without a good horseradish sauce. Again, this was just the way I like it. The tangier the better. It clears the sinuses no end.

When we arrived ( little bit after lunch time) restaurant was pretty empty. Took very long time more than 10mins if we wants to order drinks. Waitress came and ask DRINKS we wanted see wine list. It look like everything is bothering them.DIRTY CUTLERY on the tableWe left before ordering anythingStaff horrible

We stayed three nights at the hotel since were here for the Carnival, and ate in the restaurant for three breakfasts and two dinners. Breakfasts - lots of choice for continental breakfast, toast and fruit etc., but nothing exciting or looking fresh. However, the cooked breakfasts were the real let down and at £15.. per person, poor quality and value. The hot offering would have been ok if it had been well cooked, hot and not all over cooked. How can you eat a fried egg that is like rubber, bacon that resembles leather and sausages cooked to death? It was only after we’d had three breakfasts that I was told that I could have ordered poached eggs - there was no indication of this. The two dinners were very average and very expensive for the quality, little more than pub grub, but not the best. The first night the restaurant was fully booked due to Carnival and staff were efficient and our food was just ok, though my macaroni cheese was dry and stodgy. We ate sparingly the first night since we wanted to get outside for the carnival, but on the Sunday we ate at leisure in an almost empty restaurant . We both ordered medium steak, but there was no consistency, with one over cooked and one oozing blood, yet they were of very similar size. The spinach was appalling, it felt defrosted and microwaved and was tasteless and stringy, and the garden peas were no better than I’d cook - straight from the packet! The cheesecake was ok, but the blueberry sauce was glutinous and again tasteless. If Marco Pierre White is happy to put his name to this place and reads this review, he needs to either make an unexpected visit or send a mystery shopper to see what is being served in his name. I’d come back to the hotel anytime I am in the area, but would be unlikely to eat there.

Took my daughter and her partner here for Sunday lunch. The staff were charming and the food was brilliant and at a very reasonable price. I am vegetarian and they were able to give me a great, tasty lunch with a nut roast and all the trimmings. Will definitely go back there again.Vegetarian options: Had the vegetarian Sunday roast. It came with a delicious nut roast, veggie gravy and all the trimmings. Would highly recommend it.

Food in the UK is typically bland and boring, but the food here was delightful. Perfectly cooked steak, wonderfully warm bread paired with sea salt butter and the beetroot and goat cheese starter was simple and delicious. Would most definitely visit again! Staff were also fantastic!
