Great, friendly, little Café. Top notch full English breakfast. The selection of cakes is always great, but get there early as they're very popular. My favourite seat is in the window soaking up the sun with a nice view of the High St. Thanks ladies!

This seems a busy cafe with locals. There is lots of cakes available and they also sell i chocolates to take away and gift wrapped as presents. The staff are friendly and accommodating of young children. There is quite a few tables and chair at the back of the cafe for seating. The coffee and hot chocolate is good as are the cakes - large portion size of cakes! There is also a large menu for savoury food.

I’m a local so this may be considered biased, but I’ve visited the Place a number of times and always found the staff to be friendly and courteous. Service is usually good, it does get busy so occasionally you have to be prepared to wait for a while during those busy periods.\\nAs for the person who left the earlier review, I’m appalled that you could even think about making this a race issue. Unbelievable. You could have just wandered to the front of the shop and asked them to take your order, you know. I’m sure they would have apologised for the delay and obliged. “These kinds of establishments where they are used to serving white customers” is downright insulting, both to the staff at the Place and the people of South Somerset in general.

Arrived around 2.30pm and were disappointed to be told that there was no food available despite the cafe being open until 5pm. However, we ordered two coffees which were very nice and there was male member of staff who was very friendly.

Walked in and there were 2 staff members there, they looked at me and said nothing. Then I saw the sign saying it was table service so I went and sat down. While I was sitting down the 3rd member of staff saw me and again said nothing. I sat there waiting for this “table service” nothing. Meanwhile the 2 occupied tables we’re merrily chatting away with their orders in front of them. I began to read and waited and waited. Then when none of the 3 staff members came I decided to leave and find somewhere else. As I was leaving I walked to the front where all 3 staff members were just drinking tea and chatting. I said “is I not table service?” One of them responded with “oh yeah, I literally watched you walk in” I responded “it’s okay, I’ll go somewhere else” and left. Not sure if all 3 of them genuinely forgot I was sat in the not so busy cafe or if there was another issue.\\n\\nAs a Black person, I hate travelling to non diverse places because it’s the same experience over and over again and I don’t know if it’s to do with my race in these kind of establishments where they are used to serving white customers. I went across the road to the George hotel pub and restaurant and they were warm and welcoming and kindly let me wait until I needed to leave at 4pm. Shame that this place didn’t offer any warmth when I arrived as I spent a lot of time and £ at the George hotel and it seems this place could have used it more.
