Found this hidden gem and recommend to all. Good food, coffee and service. Lady who served us was very friendly and made us feel welcome. We had panini's with salad which were very tasty. I would go again when in the area.

Called in for coffee. The lad on duty was just opening at 11.05 am.Asked for two coffees and told that the machine wouldn’t turn on. We were then offered a cafetière. Two coffees then arrived in mugs, not a cafetière. The machine for that wasn’t working. The gent’s toilet was another matter, suffice it to say that whoever used it last had a digestive system problem.I felt a bit sorry for the lad on duty, he seemed a bit out of his depth, and it was fairly obvious that the other staff that should have been on duty hadn’t turned up.It’s a shame because it used to be a nice little café pre-Covid.

Best cafe in the area!Great food, fantastic staff and even better events/themed evenings, definitely check it out!Only had one issue, where recently the electrics were faulty due to what seemed to be a water leak, however this is undertandably not the team's fault at all. Will definitely be returning, all being said!

Awful food, terrible service

Nice surroundings with lots of artwork. The girl that served us had a not so good manner, so made us feel like we weren't wanted there. We both ordered the fish goujon sandwich with chips and salad. No salad arrived, and barely six chips... For nearly £9,quite expensive. We won't be going back

A very strange place with a varied selection of art around the walls available to buy at a huge range of prices. We were greeted without a smile with menus being shoved at us.Ordered an elderflower, was brought an Appletizer. When questioned, she looked at the bottle, swore and walked off!Food order was completely wrong twice! Then tried to charge for wrong order of food!Lots of swearing under breath (but loud enough to hear), strange and loud music choices (Massive Attack) and disconnected service.Food was good enough for the price.

Found this gem what a surprise, about family have a wide range of dietary requirements. Impressed at the off menu options and helpful information, overjoyed to find out their menu is as locally sourced as possible. The sausages and burgers are gluten free.(fantastic for us with a coeliac) It was very busy however the manageress provided art materials and amused our children. It was worth the 20 minute wait, nice hot plates, delicious homemade soup, The little courtyard garden was a delight.

We had a very odd experience at this cafe last week. My mother daughter and I sat down at a table. My autistic daughter wanted sausages and chips- on the menu was sausages mash peas and gravy at £8.35 (not a typo). I asked for chips for her instead of mash. The lady said she would get that ordered asap while my mum and I were deciding. So far so good. Mum ordered a baked potato with tuna. It was described as coming with salad but when it arrived it had no salad. Mum asked for salad which arrived when she had almost finished eating the potato, which she left in part as it was black. I ordered a panini - I was asked if I wanted chips or salad with it. I asked for salad. When it arrived- long after my daughter and mother had received their meals- it had no salad, but instead had chips. I pointed this out by this time this chaotic service was annoying and we just wanted to go. During all of this a teapot arrived followed a good 5 mins later by tea cups and milk. The bill for these 3 ‘dishes’ plus 2 cups of tea was £27 odd. If you think £8.35 is a reasonable price for 2 sausages and a handful of chips- in Chard- then do go there. But we thought it was a terrible price to pay for such a chaotic and poor lunch. The lady asked mum how the meal was and mum pointed out the black parts of the potato, to which the lady said she would take 50p off the bill- which she kept repeating loudly. It was embarrassing. It was such a pity as the reviews are good. But we will never go again. I don’t like writing poor reviews as I am conscious that businesses need trade. But I could not let this experience go un-noted

Excellent breakfast & delicious coffee. We have been visiting The Art Gallery Cafe for several years & the new owners have kept up the previous high standards. Well done. Well worth visiting. Dog friendly. Good menu. Excellent Value for money.
