Had an enjoyable meal with friends on 28th Feb,on returning home, realised I had left my scarf!!!! Pale blue/grey with stags on.i phoned the old down straight away, a very nice lady confirmed they had found it and would hold on to it until I could get up to collect it,they would put it on a hanger .Today i have popped in to collect it but sadly and very disappointing the lady that I saw, did look into a cupboard and said its not there and said probably its been picked up by someone else with their coat .On me saying ,well thats really dissapointing!!!!! I was took back by her lack of consideration when she replied "well these things happen. " sooo ladies just be sure to look after your scarfs !!! Perhaps an ideato the old down would be to have a "safe box "for items lost/found .I,m sure all customers would appreciate this.i certainly would have.

Stopped for dinner as we were staying in the area, the food was fantastic. A unique looking building, both inside and out, could probably do with a bit of updating, but has a nice overall feel. Would recommend.

Stayed for bed and breakfast. A lovely room and a very comfortable mattress. A fantastic breakfast. The full English was enormous! Quality Ingredients and fab bread. A lovely landlady. Christmas tree tastefully decorating making a welcoming entrance.

Went with a friend on a Monday for lunch and had the special lunchtime roast, which was delicious and just the right amount of meat but we would have liked a bigger portion of vegetables. However, having said that, the price was very reasonable and the service was excellent.

Fantastic stay and festive family meal at the old down inn .As usual the staff are amazing and look after you well .They all work really hard and are very welcoming. Maxine deserves a medal .

Went for Sunday lunch and had the slow cooked beef - fabulous! Together with 3 roast potatoes and HUGE Yorkshire pudding plus vegetables (broccoli, cabbage and carrots) in a side dish and gravy. Really lovely.
