“Very nicely located pub in the middle of the charming village of Beckington. We called in the other day after a long trip and found the service delightful, the food excellent and the ambience warm and welcoming. The locals we were chatting to were obviously very fond of their village pub, and I can understand why. This is the kind of welcoming Inn that we used to find all over the place, but is pretty rare in this era of gastropubs and tarted up accommodation. For something that feels like a modern version of the traditional British pub you could hardly do better. Great food and great ales. I can't recommend specifics since, as they say, the menu changes daily, but it was all good quality and prepared and served with care. A pub to return to again and again.”

“We can to The Crown on one of their Thai nights - currently Friday and Saturday evenings. I had the vegan curry, which was excellent. Very fresh vegetables and superbly spiced. Cooked to order. My partner had the king prawn dish, which she very highly rated. Service was fast and very friendly. Great prices. The dining area is very wood based, and the rest of the pub somewhat more relaxed. A nice outdoor area and dog friendly. Worth booking in advance. Dog friendly. Please note that kitchen changed a few months ago, so the reviews here that talk about steak are almost certainly out of date”

“Stopped fir a quick pint and burger with my mate. Lovely juicy burger and hot crispy fries washed down with a crisp cold pint of cider. 2 burgers, two fries a pint and coke for £30. Highly recommend this charming back street pub.”

“Just arrived in frome about 6 hours ago...took a room in the Blue Boar, best £55 I've ever spent, an older lady has just spoken to me, I think she was local. Being from just south of Manchester, I couldn't understand a word she was saying... she seemed to be in charge of local bear mat throwing team...Great fun was had by spectators and competitors. 10/10”

“The location is brilliant and all the staff were really friendly, welcoming and helpful. There was a really good atmosphere in the bar as well.The breakfast was superb.The rooms are very spacious, clean and tidy and good value for money, we had the family room which slept 5 with no complaints. A little tired in the rooms but nothing that would put us off coming back an staying again.”
