A unique experience of wonderful hospitality and some of the most delicious food we have ever tasted in a beautiful location. Not to be missed. We truly loved every minute of our stay.

From the moment you walk in and arrive and meet Cindy you know you’re going to be well looked after, with Pio looking after the food and wine side, you will have a fabulous stay . My room was the Saint Lucia, lovely clean and homely inside with a wonderful view of Porlock Weir and bay . And it just got better. The dinner in the evenings were excellent, and all of the courses were presented well , nothing could be faulted. Also, the wine list is quite vast for such a small residence and breakfast was a big plus again. I look forward to returning again. Thank you, Cindy and Pio I for a wonderful weekend .

An outstanding experience. The team were very welcoming. The rooms and atmosphere were brilliant. The situation is perfect if you want to walk the coastal path. The food is produced like a work of art. We have never had such good food - we have travelled all over the world in hotels ranging from the luxurious to the dire and eaten at both end of the spectrum - with the chef and his colleagues describing the making and cooking of every mouth-watering course. Our room was vast, comfortable and caused us daily worries of whether we would sit in this haven or go for bracing walks. The latter was regretfully chosen. There is nothing that we could criticise. We would use any excuse to go again but this time it was a 40th wedding anniversary.

We've been visiting Locanda at least yearly since Cindy and Pio opened and every time it only gets better. The welcome, ambience, comfort and oh my god, the food improves in leaps and bounds You would be hard pushed to find such a gem even with some of the finest London hotels, don't think you need Michelene stars to appreciate the quality here, it is apparent everywhere you turn. Having read some of the reviews it's not unexpected to find some detractors, personally it seems to be just jealousy spurring them on. For heaven's sake, don't be put off by the set menu, Pio has had my wife eating food she never even considered, and friends we were with this time have said the very same thing....you will never be disappointed. This is indeed Nirvana.

This was the second visit to Locanda and it was great to see that Cindy, Pio and now Joe, have given the rooms an upgrade during their closed season. I have titled this as an experience. This is the case, from entry the whole ambience is set to charm and also relax the visitor. We stayed in Santa Maria, best view and the best bathroom. All the rooms are well above the standards of many hotels/guest houses in the locality. The Dining Experience is something to have at least once in your lifetime. Pio and Joe excelled themselves in their originality and presentation and the food tasted amazing, unlike anywhere else I can name. Breakfast has a number of dishes that will help your digestion and tastebuds. We have continued to have Chia and Coconut Milk in our diet since staying in Locanda in September, and also use charcoal in our drinking water. Cocoa's thoughts: Loved the hotel and thankfully this year my parents didn't need to use towels. I was allowed everywhere including the dining room as long as I was on a lead. Perhaps Pio could work on some doggie biscuits to entice me back. My allergies are Human chocolate, raisons and grapes. Some observations: It would be great if the bar could be stocked with some local craft beers and ciders, some people like to drink them as a pre prandial, rather than spirits and wines. I'm surprised that the television signal picks up BBC Wales and not the South West regional news, discussing this with neighbours they could pick up the local news. Wishing you well in the coming season.

We were so well looked after from the moment we stepped over the threshold. There is a lovely atmosphere, and Cindy and Pio are fabulous hosts, and have thought of everything a guest needs. As has been said before, the food is amazing, and Pio makes sure you don't have any allergies or dislikes beforehand. Will definitely return.

Just had the most wonderful short break at the Locanda. We stayed for two nights. Our room was large, bright and comfortable with gorgeous views over the harbour. The hotel was beautifully decorated with all sorts of nik-naks and interesting art covering the walls. The garden was a beautiful place to relax in the sun, being sheltered from the sea breeze on the sea front. The food was out of this world! They provided a set menu, but catered for any allergies or dislikes. It was beautifully presented. Small portions, but plenty of them. I have been to a couple of Michelin star restaurants over the past few years, but the food at the Locanda was the best I've ever tasted. Pricy, but definitely worth it. If we lived closer we would pop in for dinner on a regular basis! I shall definitely being recommending a stay at the Locanda to my family and friends.

A completely hidden gem. Can’t say enough how amazing Cindy and Pio are. A very homely and welcoming feel with 5* quality and service, food, drink choices and all the small touches. Thurs stay here and will be an annual trip for sure.

Stayed for three nights and was so impressed Generous size room (sufficient for setter size dog) with comfortable bed Great welcome for both us and more importantly dog and a great centre for exmoor and Somerset/Devon coast Food was simply exceptional- my wife who has run hospitality venues said it was some of the best food she has ever tasted. The flavours were amazing (I never once reached for salt or pepper) and beautifully presented. No choice but plenty of chance to discuss preferences We will definitely be back

We stayed at Locanda on the Weir for 3 nights recently and it couldn't have been a better short break. The location is perfect and it was interesting to read up on it's history. The hotel is wonderful, very comfortable and welcoming, and delighfully decorated with all sorts of wonderful things. Our room had a sea and harbour view which was interesting at all times of the day. The restaurant and food are both outstanding. Perfect dishes each evening with a set menu that delights. Plenty of choice for breakfast too and Chef takes as much trouble to present a perfect plate for breakfast as he does in the evenings for dinner. You won't be disappointed.

An exceptionally good restaurant, with divine food! Strongly recommend for a delicious and very special dining experience. We had four delicious courses, all carefully prepared using local and seasonal ingredients. The wine was also very good.

Dinner could not have been better. From the stunning interior and beautiful smelling candles that greeted us along with our gracious hosts, the evening begun spectacularly. The wine suggestion was impeccable, light and crisp and complemented our 4 courses well. Homemade focaccia alongside crisp asparagus Milanese for course number 1 left us needing more. Saffron risotto with veal jus for seconds came before a dry-aged (homemade of course) sea bass. Each dish was another level of perfection. The only thing wrong with the cheddar strawberry tart to finish was that there was not more! We could not recommend a visit highly enough. We will most definitely be returning to stay, the breakfast menu looks fantastic!
