Roast dinner great, Definitely needs TLC , entrance down steps at side is pretty awful & most unwelcoming. SHAME. staff (girls) were delightful . Was cold too & dingy.

Can't say a bad word about the service and beer quality. Food looks good but didn't eat here.

We've been to minehead a few times now, eaten at multiple different places and every single time this place comes out on top without competition. Having read the negative reviews you have to wonder where these people eat out normally ? If your eating at Michelin star restaurants then this may not be quite up to your standards but otherwise this is the best place to eat within atleast an hours drive. The staff are incredibly nice and always more than happy to do anything they can. The price is absolutely spot on for anywhere around here. For example our meal was actually cheaper hear than it was at the brewers fare the night before. The food is absolutely delicious with perfect portions. You come away happy and full every time. Sure the outside could do with a lick of paint but if you let that stop you from eating here then your missing out big time. Make this place a must eat when your hear.
Great pub meal, great price, lovely location, a local recommended us to have a meal here and we weren't disappointed, this is definitely a don't judge a book by it's cover pub, through the sliding door, down the steps in to a lovely old pub.Food & drinks: Great pub food

Location is good. Service is polite but very slow, probably due to understaffing. Barking dogs are permitted in the restaurant, not just the bar, which is highly problematic.Food was mediocre at best, and poor value. Portions are modest, so be sure to order sides. My Mexican burger was ludicrously small, topped with allegedly sriracha pulled pork, which was dry like shredded hardboard in both taste and texture. The saving grace was the chunky chips. Overall, not reccommended.

We have stayed in blue anchor 6 time now and never eaten at the smugglers inn but have been for drinks a number of times as they serve offshore beer on tap (we can’t get this where we are from) We had family staying in minehead and said about going for Sunday lunch, I’m so glad I suggested trying to food here. I am not a lover of Sunday roast from pubs but omg we will be back next year when we holiday again. The pudding where also just as tasty. Yes the place needs some updating/ new chair but don’t let this put you off the food is amazing and the staff where lovely. And a bonus it’s also dog friendly. Booking a table online is really easy and even got a text this morning to confirm we where still coming
