Proper pub, proper food and proper service all in a fantastic location - what's not to love! Windy, wet and cold outside, warm and friendly inside. It, and it's sister pub in Porlock, both deliver time and time again. Britain as it always was... Enjoy!

Great pub fronting on the wier. Warm and cosy atmosphere. Good selection of beers and ciders. Excellent menu and the food was first class as was the service. If the weather improves there is loads of seating outside with beautiful views across to the Welsh coast.

Serves one of, if not the best, fish and chips ever. Massive portions for great prices. Two at our table originally ordered the special, but a waitress later came to ask us if we wanted to reorder after discovering that one ingredient was not up to standard, to us this showed great integrity and high standards in their food.

We had the loveliest lunch here! Myself, my husband and 2 children called in for a bowl of chips and ended up ordering fish and chips after seeing how many people were eating! I was already expecting a nice meal but when it came - oh my god, it was absolutely out of this world! The fish was chunky and soft, the beer batter was perfect, chips were lovely and fluffy, I had salad instead of peas and it had the most gorgeous dressing on it and the homemade tarter sauce… oh man, so I’m gonna need that recipe please ? Oh and the sticky toffee was out of this world! We’ll see you again in May! ☺️

Fantastic lunch at the bottom ship, often stop in for a bite when walking the dogs at Porlock Weir and never leave disappointed. Very small pub so tables are cramped if you’re a larger group. We tried the brisket special which was delicious!

We stayed as B&B guests this weekend on a special offer for two nights. The room was lovely. The bathroom was impeccably clean. The evening meal was fantastic. The breakfast was faultless. The service was very personal, friendly and efficient. The location is perfect for coastal walks and adventures into the moors. I am quite picky but really could not find fault. We are going to return soon.
