Apart from noise coming from opposite side to room 2 everything was great.

We opted to stay the night before flying from Bristol. Beautiful place and stunning room, nice restaurant with a great selection of meals. Breakfast started at 8 and we were there for 8 as we planned to leave at 8.45 for the airport as our flight was at 11. Unfortunately although we were the only ones in the restaurant until 9am, we didn’t get our breakfast until just after 9am, despite ordering by 8.10! What we had was lovely but didn’t have time to enjoy.

My wife and I had lunch at the Rising Sun Backwell on 14/01/24 with 2 friends. It was very busy but nevertheless we were served quickly. 3 ordered the roast and 1 the roast mushroom wellington. The portions were very large and 3 would have preferred the option of a smaller portion. However the food was properly cooked and very nice. Unfortunately we were all too full to have dessert. It was a very enjoyable visit.

Stayed here last night..the food was incredible, the room was beautiful and the staff were amazing! ( not to mention the great cocktails!!) I was travelling alone with my dogs and was made to feel incredibly welcome and looked after, nothing was too much trouble. Cant wait to go back 100% recommend. Rising star Backwell, you most certainly are a team of stars! Well done all of you!

Upon arrival we were greeted by Simon the manager who was friendly and welcoming. The hotel room itself felt luxurious and the decor was beautiful (see photos). The little amenities were to a great standard and the food and service was fantastic. Would definitely recommend to stay here. I would definitely would like to return here. Thank you.

Popped in for a drink with friends .. the interior has been nicely refurbed and looked good decorated for Christmas but why have two lovely open fire places and have a few sad looking candles in them .. back in the day this pub always had roaring fires ! Sat down for drinks .. bar prices here are on the expensive side . Decided to order snacks from the bar menu .. took ages and ages to arrive and there were only a total of 8 people in the whole place . On balance this is the best of the two pubs on offer in the Village , but it’s still lacking the atmosphere and enthusiastic staff you’d hope to find in a village pub

Great beer, especially the Goram IPA 0% on draft. Fishcakes were delicious, decor and ambience perfect for a good meet up with friends, staff very friendly, food could have been served a bit quicker but we weren't in a rush.

Rooms and location are wonderful! Check in was easy and the gentleman that checked us is (assuming it was the manager) is very helpful and kind. Sunday roast was served bearly warm and dry, I'm sure it would have been lovely fresh. The breakfast took 45 minutes to come out after having to ask for it and then it had been sat on the pass for so long the bacon could be used to drum a tune on the plate. The poor server had to tell us that the hash browns still weren't ready and he would bring them out when they were done. The chef (who came out into the dining room to cough up a lung) had obviously not put the fryers on ready for service and the hash browns came out inedible with raw frozen potato inside and swimming in a pool of its own oil. Probably just bring a packed lunch next time.

What a lovely place to visit. Brilliant staff, Sarah and Molly, are genuinely nice people with great customer service and baraista skills. The food here is amazing. The garden is great for the kids with a big play area for the kids. Disability serves available and will cater to your needs. I will return and advise you to do so also.

I’m going with the words expensive, and meh (okay, so meh isn’t a word but it sums up the experience). Booked and turned up for lunch. Given the main menu. Asked for the lunch menu (as shown on their website) but were told for they second day running they had no bread, so all lunch items were off. Bad start. There’s a bakery within a 2 minute drive so surely someone could have rustled up some bread couldn’t they? Expensive - ordered 2 starters (1 soup and 1 fish cake) plus 2 portions of chips. Also had 3 soft drinks and a green tea. £42+. Now that’s expensive by anyone’s standards Meh - fishcake was a small, solitary fishcake served in bowl with a small amount of greenery and a couple of strips of cucumber. Apparently it tasted okay. Soup was supposed to be caramelised cauliflower and cheese. I highly doubt the cauli had been anywhere near anything other than cooking water, it was luke-warm, undercooked, badly blended and as a result the soup was most certainly split. It tasted okay, but the texture was like eating curds and whey. Chips were very nice though! This was supposed to be a lovely lunchtime catch up with a friend. We don’t see each other often, so I didn’t want to ruin it by complaining. Plus there was little point as there were no suitable lunchtime menu alternatives. Locally (word of mouth) this place isn’t highly rated but I thought we’d give it a try. Sadly the experience, food-wise was poor. Service was good but I was embarrassed to have taken someone there, which says it all really.

What a find! From the moment we arrived we had fantastic service, made to feel very welcome. Lovely setting, gorgeous room, fabulous food - the attention to detail is fantastic & so rare these days. We will definitely be back & will be recommending The Rising Sun to friends & family.

Lovely friendly atmosphere. Delicious food and an excellent location for the airport. We popped in for food and really enjoyed ourselves. Sadly we found the accommodation too expensive for a 12 hour stay (06:00 flight) but it would be perfect for anyone staying longer.

We stayed here before flying out of Bristol, ideal location as only a nine minute drive to the airport. The food in the evening was really tasty, the pie was an object of beauty! All the staff were friendly and helpful, Simon the manager was great too.
