We are a group of 8 and had two meals here twice this week. Well done to your chef . All meals were superb, all staff friendly and helpful. Well done, made our holiday.

Nabbed the last available table for Easter Sunday Lunch time and boy were we glad we did! Lovely homely atmosphere, friendly and accommodating staff and the roast was gorgeous. We shared dessert as the mains were very big so worked out about £20.00 per person ? so good value too. Will deffo remember this pub when we come back to the area.

I booked a table for my husbands birthday and as a surprise I asked the chef to make a cake. The meal was superb - scallops for me and cod wrapped in parma ham for Steve. Both were delicious and the red velvet cake topped with candles and ediblle flowers was amazing and delicious. Thanks to you all for making Steves birthday fab.

This pub is much improved but cannot understand the television on in the lounge bar when nobody is watching it. It is most annoying

Visited with friends for a quick bite to eat. Ended up having three courses as the starters sounded amazing, and when they arrived the sausage roll and mushroom croquettes did not fail to disappoint. The rump steam was cooked to perfection and topped off nicely with a yummy peppercorn sauce. Although we were filled to the brim there was no way that we could turn down the salted caramel cheesecake, and wow we are glad we didn’t as it was to die for. It’s so lovely to dine at a pub where you can see the chef cook along with having home made puddings. The staff were very attentive and made sure that we were well looked after. We shall be back again.

We have been visiting Exmoor regularly for 40 years but this time we were staying in Porlock for a few days. Our accomodation was available at 2 so we popped in for lunch here. Very welcoming staff, comfortable and a really superb Sunday Lunch at a reasonable price. I had the pork my husband the beef. Wouldn’t hesitate in recommending and will return soon.

Gastro pub food but within a Pub that feels like a Pub (Friendly, place to have drinks, dogs, tables spaced in a pub vibe way - not columns). Some reasonable priced stuff like Burgers or you can pay £25+ for a specialIn my view, they've got it exactly right. Just go for drinks, some good value pub grub or a bit of an occasion

We arrived late and after the kitchen closed. But the pub manager Dan and customers helped us order a takeaway from Minehead that was brought to the pub and enjoyed with a drink. Dan then gave me a lesson in astrophotography and where to find the planets in the night sky. What a warm welcome to Porlock.

We very often visit Porlock and have on several occasions dined in the here and I have to say the food is excellent., so it is with regret that I write this review. We came to have drinks and sat near the bar area. I thought smoking in any form was banned in restaurants. A young lady was vapping at the bar! She did not seem to hide the fact that she was, blowing the vap in to the air where customer are drinking and eating. She obviously either worked there or associated with the bar staff there. This was totally ignored by the staff working behind the bar. I see from a previous review that this has happened before and you requested the date on which they attendid the establishment. So I'm adding some more information for you. 28/10/23 6pm. The girl had blonde hair tied back in a pony tail. We love coming to the The Royal Oak and have for many years. We love how you have you have revamped the place. Please don't let your staff or staff friends spoil this.

At the local camp site helping on a D of E practice expedition and was in need of some food after a busy, got to the Royal Oak, and that was busy too. They were so accommodating and found us a table. We ordered food and more drinks, and the food was excellent. I would go there again ?

I was visiting Porlock from Australia and we came here for dinner and it is the best pub dinner we’ve both ever had, and in fact the best mussles and risotto we’ve both eaten. The food was so delicious, top restaurant quality and the service was amazing. I would come back here time and time again if I could.

Had a week in a Thatched Cottage in Porlock such a friendly place. We called into the Royal Oak for a drink and was greeted by the manager Dan, such a lovely man, made to feel so welcome and took time to talk with us. We noticed the specials board on the wall, seafood delight, so we booked for the Thursday evening, we ordered our food just perfection on a plate, done by Chef Phil, he took time to speak with us. We loved it so much we booked for Friday night another amazing meal that was so good so we booked for Saturday. Dan had gone on holiday so the owner stepped in Chef Spencer lovely man great food once again. All three nights we were looked after by such wonderful young lady's so attentive always a smile greated us. Dan always checked to see that we were happy with everything. Wines were excellent. Please book so popular. Absolutely first class place the Royal Oak in Porlock.

This place was rocking! Had an amazing meal and thank you to the staff for squeezing us in with only two minutes to go before the kitchen closed! What had been a very stressful journey for the six of us (traffic congestion, bad weather and delayed rail connections) turned into a lovely evening and was much appreciated!

I visited the Royal Oak with the intention of booking a table for dinner the following night. I noticed that one customer who was in conversation with the barman was smoking an e-cigarette within three feet of a lady eating. There was also another person using one at a near by table. I believe it's unacceptable to allow any form of smoking where food is being g consumed.
