Proper old fashioned cafe! Lovely staff and a great mug of good strong tea! Traditional english food- fancy mixing with the locals over a good old english fry-up, then this is the place for you!

Very nice people, very cheap and very good food. The fry ups are to die for. Definitely worth a visit!

Excellent food and good value.

Really unwelcoming. Clearly didn't want to serve me. Announced they weren't doing breakfast before I had opened mouth then strung me along for a few minutes saying they weren't serving different things on the menu until actually saying they weren't serving food. Then tried to send me as far away as they could on foot to the other side of town to the furthest cafe they could think of.

A traditional cafe, serving fry-ups and meals. Polite staff and quick service. Food is always well prepared, served quickly and comes out piping hot.

Perfectly quintessential, a traditional British breakfast Cafe. Providing really great value for money & a hearty, flavoursome full English breakfast that is guaranteed to keep you going all day and more. A classic, quality establishement that truley reflects the world famous breakfast standard of the United kingdom. Pretty hard to stumble upon these days!

Visiting the town for the first time and brought here by my lovely who had been many times before. Step inside and step back in time into one of Britains few remaining proper cafes. Breakfast was great and just how it should be done. The slight film of grease on the windows is perfect and should be there, along with the dirty tea spoon. If it wasn’t it would take away from the experience of a proper breakfast in a proper cafe. Loved it and the food is great. A must visit if your in town. The best hangover cure you can get.

Staff & food was brilliant maybe sort the smell of oil inside i understand it's a cafe but doesn't make it very pleasant ?

Terrible place. Service, food cleanliness all diabolical, the place should be closed permanently. So called Baked Potato was just microwaved never seen any baking white a yukky. So called Cottage Pie, some mince with lots of peas and carrots to bulk it out.Never again!

Good quality no frills cafés are hard to find these days. A decent fried breakfast with flavour, bacon that has taken on seasoning from the pan, eggs cooked with runny yolks but the film of white over the yolk is also cooked, mushrooms that actually taste of mushroom, hash brown that has been cooked well through and still moist, beans with a reduced sauce, proper black pudding cooked with care and attention, bread toasted or fried, tinned tomatoes without a pool of liquid.I've known of this Café for over 20 years and have stopped at it most times I've worked in Portishead which is not often enough. My heart was gladened today at the service and the quality of my fry up, the set breakfast altered happily, I prefer no sausages and extra eggs. I wished I had the opportunity to stop here more often, the care taken here in the preparation of my large breakfast today far exceeded the average. If you hanker for the fry ups of old minus the fog of cigarette smoke of days gone by I urge you to try this place, in fact, I'm going back there tomorrow on my day off, I saw a hand written sign advertising 'Jims bread and butter pudding'.

I had driven past this Caff most days and being Vegan paid little attention as I expected Bacon and eggs to be the most adventurous meal on offer but how wrong I was. They have a fabulous variety of home cooked food from burgers to cottage pie to breakfasts as Vegan options. The girl who served us was really open, friendly and helpful. No frills but genuinely lovely food.
