Utterly disappointed with very poor, over-salted, over-priced food. The young lady who served us was very sweet but had not been properly trained and a manager sat nearby watching events unfold, offering no support. What a shame for such a beautiful venue which used to be exceptional. I ordered the burger (£17.50), the bun was defrosted, stale and the burger was processed. K had fish finger sandwich, which came in the same stale burger bun as mine. Sandwich it was not. S had the chicken park ciabatta with extra back (£15!) - dry, no butter, bacon cremated. I never write these reviews but you ought to know.

Lunched with friends and intended to stay just for a few hours, but which actually turned into nine, we just didn't want to leave! Delicious, adventurous food and wine, beautiful surroundings and ambience with AMAZING waiting staff. We were even asked to sample and critique a new dish for their forthcoming menu...such fun !!!

We just had lunch with friends and I don’t think we have ever had such a wonderful pub lunch. Fantastic food with an excellent choice, great service and a warm, friendly atmosphere. Definitely will be back!

This is a nice pub in a very nice position. The menu was dominated by fish dishes (more than half). Which is strange given the supplier of the week is a butcher; there was a single meat dish, a Rib Eye steak. I had the fish pie which had potatoes as a large ingredient, and it was served with mashed potatoes, a bit of carb overload. The dish came with 'seasonal vegetables' but it seems the only vegetable in season now is kale, which was disappointing. The toilets were very good.

I have to give a shout out for this place. We had a birthday lunch there yesterday and the food was great. Beforehand I had been e mailing about various things and they were so helpful. Plus the chef made the most delicious birthday cake which was fantastic and made the whole event feel real special. And the wait staff all sang happy birthday. Food was really good as was the service. I can highly recommend. Thank you to all of you at The Mill at Rode.

The Mill is in a beautiful location, and it was great to finally visit after many work related drive-bys. We came along with our dog for lunch following a lovely walk. Restaurant has lots of space & is very dog friendly. Smaller menu than we had expected. I had the haddock & chips, with mushy peas & the best tartare sauce I’ve ever tasted! My husband had the chicken burger, not so keen on the breadcrumbs & fries, he preferred my chunky chips. We were very impressed with the service from Phoebe our server, friendly, smiley & attentive, and nothing too much trouble, particularly as we parked ourselves away from the main diners. We shall definitely be back again soon!

Took us unexpectedly after a local pub let us down. The staff were wonderful and made us all very welcome. Dinner was lovely, though I think overpriced. But couldn’t fault the food. Lovely ambiance. Thank you.

Promising from the outside for a 21st Birthday Meal (Group of 10 )..... Well until we sat down we were an inconvenience to the establishment, we got given the A4 sheet Menu and to be honest not much choice (especially the kids menu) and misleading information, because we had to ask a few questions.Staff took a while to take our drinks order, so when the drinks did arrive we insisted them to take our food order straight away because we knew it would of been a while for them to take our food order. We ordered fish n chips which was ok.....Lamb pot pie ok but confusion with that. Kids fish n chips was disappointingly tiny. CHICKEN BURGER Hmmmmm make sure it's cooked first, we had to send 2 back because looked undercooked. We were informed the chicken was thighs which wasn't stated on the menu and for the price for it was a lot for the cut of meat (Thighs). We got told to wait (30 min wait)for the owner to try convince us the burger was ok, owner wasn't prepared to budge on the matter nor offer anything, it was us who insisted we are not paying the service charge and not pay the sent back the undercooked food. Atmosphere was non existent. Overall pricey for what you get. Tip - ask to sit where you have light.

We visited this establishment for my Grandson’s 21st Birthday meal. As we have visited The Mill in the past we decided to go there. The service was slow or non-existent at times. The Barman had to keep taking advice on questions we’d asked him. We ordered our meals (limited menu). Long story short it was very expensive and the two chicken burgers ordered were raw in places and were only warm but after mentioning it to the so called Duty Manager she got very defensive and said they had been soaked in butter milk , sprinkled with paprika and temperature probed before they were served then stormed off with my meal. We were offered alternative meals but wasn’t prepared to wait. We were told that they would call the Owner, a Sam Knight and he turned up eventually after a wait and he wouldn’t have it that the chicken was raw in places and after a very long discussion with him and bearing in mind the customer is always right he reluctantly agreed to deduct the two meals and gratuity from the bill and no attempt was made to compensate for ruining what should have been a special family meal for which one family travelled from London. This was mentioned to Mr Knight but he wasn’t interested as looking on this site it’s happened before. To recap the staff apart from one waitress who took our payment were unprofessional and stroppy. I hope this review will be viewed by others before they book!

Outstanding Christmas dinner for our work party last night! Superb staff, super helpful, the loom room looked so festive and beautiful but the food was the best bit! Really really delicious Christmas dinner and salted caramel tart to die for! The private dining area was perfect for so many people and we had the best time!

The xmas decor and ambience of this pub is excellent and promised to be a good evening. We eagerly awaited our meal choices from the Xmas Party Menu, many of us chose the Ballotine of bronze turkey, which most of us agreed looked and tasted amazing, however we all agreed we were disappointed with the portion size and the lack of vegetables. We assumed small side dishes of Carrots and Sprouts were going to be added to our tables, but when we enquired we were informed that what was on our plate was everything: 2 slices of turkey, 1 pig in blanket, a small square roast potato and one medium size roast parsnip, with a drizzle of juniper jus. My party and I were left feeling some what underwhelmed, however tasty it was. Overall, it was very tasty, but over priced for the portion size and lack of additional vegetables .

GREAT PLACE! Not only is it a gorgeous place to visit, the service and food were top notch. Could not fault either in the slightest. After 5hours of travel this was a hidden gem that we found and would love to return. Cannot thank the staff enough for an amazing visit.

Food was OK although too expensive. We were there for Sunday lunch and chose the chicken and beef, selection of vegetables was good but one very thin slice of beef and a chicken drumstick was stingy. Desert was very nice, we would probably go back although price might put us off.
