Tony is fantastic, so is the dog, the food is amazing and is reasonably priced. The place has character and charm, beautiful surrounding walks and a well stocked bar.Looking forward to visiting again!

What an experience? Do you like character? Quirky? Fun? A dog that looks crossed with a boar! Then this is the place.?Loved it!Good rooms, comfortable beds.Did I mention Tony is an excellent chef and an even better storyteller?Highly recommend for an entertaining time.

Wonderful place full of antiques and a very friendly owner who is also a very good cook

Really nice old country pub/hotel. Great landlord.

If you’d love a host by the name of Tony who wipes his nose with his hand on your arrival whilst drunkenly telling you there’s no food available after you’ve navigated the seated courtyard area caked in fresh and mouldy dog faeces, then this is the place for you. Bearing witness to his lack of hygiene and seeing his aggressive hound in the kitchen on several occasions, I passed on devouring any food and went elsewhere as I didn’t relish the prospect of spending my evening vomiting in my equally grubby room. How anyone can give this ironically named hovel a positive review is utterly bewildering. Dust bowl? More like hell hole.

A fantastic quirky little gem of an inn. Wonderful open fire in a cozy bar that takes you back to another age.Tony the owner is quite a guy. His big fluffy dog is adorable.A pleasant change from the bland sterile chain hotels

What a fabulous place to stay. Rooms spotless, breakfast was excellent. You could spend hours jyst looking around all the artifacts dotted around the hotel. Lovely bar area with roaring log firecand comfortable chairs to relax with a drink. Owner very hospitable and lots of local info to share. Loved our stay.

Great place to stay. Tony is a great cook, and is a treat to chat with. Spent many hours sat by the fire with him, during our stay. Room was quirky, oldy worldy, but clean. Suited us perfectly. If you want a sterile, dull hotel chain room, this is not the place for you. Will definitely be going back.

This is usual hotel pub. The food and hospitality were great, Tony is a great, knowledgeable host.Rooms: Our room was small but ensuiteWalkability: You can walk to the local church, town high street and dining.A few antique stores to browse.Food & drinks: Delicious meals in the evening with Tony the cook, barman.Noteworthy details: The hotel is old, chic and interesting in the heart of saffron mallet, close to Wells.

Beautiful old worlde inn/hotel. I believe they are only open to hotel guests but the food alone was well worth the stay. The ‘guard dog’ is vocal but a lovely old boy once you’re past him.

We would never of stayed here . Obviously Booking.com doesn’t vet there hotels before there go in there websites. Owner smokes and the building smells of cigarettes. Breakfast choice was not given eggs over cooked sausage was cheap. Owner should sell up

The owner seemed nice but they didn't honour my booking which ended up wasting travel and time for me. I luckily found alternative accommodation at short notice.
