Excellent pub with a great host, we stayed overnight in our camper on route to France. Couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome.

On the whole it was good. Given its reputation I expected more if I'm honest but it was fine.We opted for the roast beef, which was fine if you like it rare, but one of our party suggested that a good vet could have got the beast living again!!That said, the ambience was lovely, they seemed a wee bit short staffed as the woodburner was lit but soon went out as there was nobody available to keep it stoked up.What staff there were greeted us in a sweet and appropriate manner which was lovely and they made themselves available to deal with any issues, which was a credit to them as it was one poor souls first day!!One thing really stood out, the desserts were amazing!! All devised and prepared on site by the kitchen staff, who were not afraid to experiment and innovate, a gamble which for us paid off as they were excellent! So, to sum up, if you like your roast beef rare, this is for you, but there are other choices on the menu and the desserts are something else, worth a visit for them alone!!

Local character pub. Lots to recommend it - not least the back story to the name of the pub.

One of the best beer pubs in the area, with a regularly refreshed line up of interesting and well-kept real ales. Good food and a fine beer garden too. But the best bit is the atmosphere inside the bar - authentically and unpretentiously brilliant.

We've been to The Docks several times but our last visit was disappointing. I ordered the Chichen breast risotto, I asked for some parmesan cheese as the risotto was not very creamy and was given grated cheddar! My dessert, sticky toffee pudding was delicious and good size portion. The young waitress was charming but there was no atmosphere in the pub. The lady serving drinks was not wecoming. We were the only ones left 9.00 pm.

Went for Sunday lunch. As usual the food was excellent as was the service. Field mushrooms and cheese for a starter followed by the main, plant based burger and then a passion fruit mousse. The rest of the group had roast dinners which were also excellent.

We had previously visited in October but returned with friends to celebrate three of our birthdays, staying the night in our motorhomes. Matt is a fab host and the team he has there are second to none. The food was superb, served by friendly staff. This is in the perfect position, being roughly halfway between London and the South West, being a matter of minutes from the A303 Ilminster by-pass, to take a short break from the journey (or perhaps a longer one ?) A proper pub, dog friendly, selling a variety of Beers, ciders , wines and spirits accompanied by an eclectic menu that caters for everyone and a surprising twist to its origins and history which I shall leave a secret. Quintessential British. Malc, Suzie and Nellie the poodle.

Honestly the best place to eat by far, we first discovered Dinnington docks while on hoilday in 2021 when I was pregnant in the November and both my partner and I fell in love with food and how friendly the staff where! November 2023 and we are back on holiday with our little man in tow, the staff were so kind to him and even brought his chips out for him before our mains so he could munch and be happy! The food was amazing as usual. Roll on our next holiday so we can visit again! Thankyou to all the staff who made sure our little man was comfortable at the table!
