Booked a couple of nights stay at the Notley Arms for myself and my mother in order to take part in the Honda Dave Thorpe enduro day over Exmoor. Beautiful and quiet location situated in Monksilver village. Simon & Caroline are fantastic hosts and made us both feel very welcome. The rooms are tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable. My room was a little on the small side, but perfectly adequate for what I wanted. The restaurant and bar area have an eclectic decorative style making it very interesting to look round. I found the food to be absolutely delicious, proper homemade food, decent portions, locally sourced produce, cooked and seasoned well at the right price point. All in all we felt very well looked after and wouldn’t hesitate in staying there again in order to explore the local area. Thank you for a wonderful stay ??

Stayed for 2 nights while in the area. Simon is a great host even kept the place open when my flight was delayed and I missed the 9pm check in time. Lovely hot showers in room, the room was spotless too. Bar and restaurant could not fault, food was great! would recommend to anyone in the area wanting a place to stay and eat/drink.

On arrival we were met by Caroline and Simon who both were very friendly and made us feel very welcome!! We were shown to room 3 which was homely and comfortable. We then took a lovely cold beer out into the garden to enjoy the afternoon sunshine. We ate dinner both nights if our stay, the food was very plentiful and delicious! The breakfast was also very tasty and well presented. We had an amazing time and nothing was too much trouble for the hosts to ensure you had a pleasant stay. We are looking forward to our next visit!

This place is a hidden gem, The Notely is a privately owned pub/restaurant/ accomodation run by Simon and Caroline. The hostes with the most warmth/ care and attention to their guests. I was welcomed by Simon, who clearly loves what he does, they are both people’s people. The interior is beautifully styled, I could have stayed for a week. To eat I had a ribeye steak cooked to perfect by Bryony, the best steak and chips I’ve had in years, why do so many pubs get it wrong? Bryony is also a fountain of local knowledge, with lots of tips on great hidden places to walk and visit. I came for the weekend on my motorbike and was made to feel at home. Simon and Caroline cooked and served up a lovely breakfast, all excellent quality local produce. There’s not many places like this in the whole of the UK, as Arnie says,’ I’ll be back’!!!
