Such a shame such a lovely pub, BUT the food on Sunday was bad. I really sorry to say but I understand now why pubs are closing Food needs to be good, this is NOT So much Potential, BUT cobs webs dirty doors in the main dining room are so easy to deal with. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE DETAIL SAD ? SO SAD I love to go out and have a wonderful meal and I am happy to pay, but when the food is below average that is 1 frustrated and 2 SAD ?

We always come here for at least one meal when we're in the area. Steaks are always excellent, really tasty starters and deserts. Very friendly service and great for dogs too. It lived up to its usual standards this weekend. Fresh cooked pizzas in the summer are delicious too.

Nice enough food. Great steak cookery. Nice fillet but nothing special. Shame about the table service and bar being manned . Not a bad meal and a good beer but was lacking in service . We'd have spent more money on the bar but no one came and asked if we wanted refills. And then no one manning the bar. This is that review that's says it was alright but we won't rush back

Highly recommended. Staying nearby, so thought we give it a try, staff very friendly, nice beer, food was lovely and good sized portions.Staff made a fuss of our dog, gave her several pieces of steak as a treat, happy dog ?

Not walker friendly, in fact an unfriendly almost unwelcoming place, noisy and any issue is the customer's fault. Not recommended

Visited this pub with family for an anniversary celebration on Saturday, we chose it as it was dog friendly and we have a 5 month old cavachon so one of the few dog friendly pubs in the area. When we arrived the landlady’s dog was in the bar a cockerpoo. It came up to sniff my puppy then viciously attacked her and bit her causing my puppy to yelp for about 15 seconds. The landlady came out and asked what had happened and we told her only for her to say oh he has never done that before which was a bit rude. My husband said that he should be on a lead if he acts like that to which she then took the dog behind the bar. We proceeded into the restaurant but my puppy was shaking and very scared. About half hour into the visit the dog was again roaming the pub which made us very nervous and I spent the next half hour and for most of my meal with my puppy on my lap which was not ideal. It ruined our evening and the landlady asked how she was while we were leaving. I would not return to this pub as not my idea of dog friendly

Lovely old pub let down by poor quality food very much like going back in time ,long wait for service chefs were very old and should of retired years ago, dogs roaming all over pub plus kitchen, people were asking why orders took so long to arrive, certainly won't recommend this pub as it fell far short of the experience we would expect so won't be back
