Pizza evening, had one although their normal menu was there too. It was delicious, thank you.

Pretty pub with very friendly staff. Competent advice on the selection and composition of dishes. The food was great, no matter what was served, the taste was great. Freshness and quality, polite service - you'll be happy to come back here.Vegetarian options: Great menu, everyone should find something here. Ingredients can be swapped or omitted.

Yet again a great meal, warm and friendly atmosphere and if in doubt about what wine to choose - ask Sean for a reoimmendation

Lovely pub, we went on their Wednesday steak night and had the steak dinner medium rare and I gotta say it was perfection. If you expect a typical pub amount of food on your plate you will find the portions a bit small, but they make this up in calibre of their food. Everyone working their is lovely, helpful and polite.

A delightful, warm and welcoming pub, my favourite - there are two wood burners & so you immediately feel the warmth when you enter on a chilly winter day - just what you want. It's also friendly and in my opinion the food delicious and beautifully presented. If only other pubs could learn from this one - how to provide good service and 'delight' the customer. Sadly, this level of customer service is not the 'norm' for most.

We enjoyed the Christmas Party Menu on a busy Saturday evening; Sean and his team looked after us exceptionally well. Everyone agreed the food was superb, the staff were attentive and the whole evening was a great success. We could not fault a thing from the original booking to the event itself.

Absolutely top notch Sunday roast. A little cool in the garden room, but it would be fabulous in summer with that view.
A wonderful hidden gem … bucolic views of the stunning south Somerset landscape, great atmosphere, a convivial landlord and wonderful food.

Went for a Sunday Roast last week. Food was delicious but it was quite a small portion, in fact I could've had two. For £20.50, I think it is a bit steep to ask for that portion size. Slight strange one where we asked for a pint of diet Coke and when we received the bill, they charged us for 2 330ml at £3 a piece. Would've been nice to know this before finding out when it's too late. A very nice atmosphere for a village pub.

We booked for Sunday Lunch on the hope that there was availability. Sean emailed back the same day and kindly booked us in. When we arrived, there was a traditional, cosy bar and we were shown through to a beautiful restaurant area which has the most stunning views of the countryside and Alfred’s Tower. Our waitress was amazing and they had prepared a menu for my son who has allergies. The service was exceptional and the food was fantastic: Hot and delicious. I would happily eat there every week. I saw that some people thought it was expensive but for excellent quality food with great staff and a lovely atmosphere I was happy to pay £20 per head and then drinks.

We planned a "Somerset Sojourn" of four nights away visiting gardens in the area, and picked the Seedhouse Air B&B in Shepton Montague (very good, highly recommend). The Montague Inn therefore became our "Local" over the weekend and we visited for evening drinks, an evening dinner, and a Sunday Roast. Each time we entered we received a warm and cheery welcome and great service throughout. My wife was pleased there was Butcombe IPA Zero on draught (she cannot drink alcohol, but loves a decent beer) and I enjoyed several glasses of their House Red, which was very quaffable. The food was very good on both occasions - no nonsense, sensible portions, great quality, and reasonable prices. The serving staff were friendly and attentive, chef was happy to tweak my meals to adapt to my needs, and the general vibe of the place was just what you would hope for at a local pub! We hope to return in the Spring and will definitely eat and drink here again - thoroughly recommended. Thank You Sean and Team!
