Had to go next door to the takeaway section, not too bad of a queue.Soon as I got to the front, I was waiting well over 10 minutes to place my order that there was a queue out of the door! just because there was only one person on the till too busy preparing someone else's order who seemed to have bought the entire shop!!!Sorry but I liked it when it was princes and they had table service.

Absolutely the best chippy in barnsley! Portion sizes excellent, food piping hot, very friendly staff and reasonable prices. Very happy always have lunch here when visiting barnsley. ?

Dropped in just before closing time, we was unsure if we were able to place our order. The staff could not do enough for us and were extremely welcoming. After taking our order, we were taken to our table and within no time the fish, chips, mushy peas arrived where we were also offered a hot drink. The FOOD, STAFF, CLEANLINESS and COST was EXCELLENT. We had not visited for many years due to recently moving back into the area, we were amazed that nothing had changed and was still the best ?……FULLY Recommend a visit to the BEST Fish & Chips in TOWN. (5?????)

Absolutely delicious ?, I had sausage, chips and gravy, every item was so tasty, could tell the chips were done in beef dripping and not oil, highly recommended

Thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Mermaid fish and chips. The staff were all polite, friendly and courteous, especially the lady who was working in the seating area for whom nothing was too much trouble. The fish and chipswere delicious and the portions generous. We will return. Thankyou.
