Nice pub, cosy, not expensive, good selection of beers, not had food there yet, but it looks like a nice menu. Dog friendly.Parking: Car park across the way.

Great pub. We called for Sunday lunch. We both had beef. Plenty of veggies. Plenty of meat. No complaints. Really nice food. I had lemon drizzle pudding. My husband had treacle. Both were tasty. Great food. Great staff. Great atmosphere. Would recommend a visit. £15 for Sunday lunch and dessert.

Went here today for Sunday lunch. Absolutely shocking. 3 of us are vegetarians and ordered the vegetarian option- Lasagne. After about an hour our meals were served. However 2 of the vegetarians noticed that the meat in the lasagne may not have been quorn. We asked the waitress and she said that it was meat!!!! We said that we did notwant a replacement meal. Also one of the group had asked for extra roast potatoes - not served with the main meal, the waitress said that they would be 10 minutes - never served. The yorkshire puddings served with the Sunday roast were still frozen. To top it all we were charged for drinks that had already been paid for. All in all a terrible experience - never to be repeated. All this while the landlady sat at the side of the bar drinking. Not one sincere apology.

I went for a Sunday lunch here with my parents today and am shocked at the quality of the food and service offered. Especially compared to some of the great alternatives nearby. It took an age to get seated after being passed between different staff, and when we finally got a table, the service there didn't pick up at all. In terms of the menu, the single vegetarian option was lack luster. My parents both ordered a meat dinner and I was given a meat free lasagne (I asked to substitute the garlic bread with chips and was given two (literally, just two) roast potatoes as an alternative... Something the waitress found funny when I queried it. My parents comments about their meat dishes were summarised with 'wasnt great, but I ate it because I was hungry'. They were not impressed with either the meat or vegetables. Anyways, I won't be returning to The Tavern, and I certainly wouldn't recommend it (to either carnivores or veggies). I stopped at McDoanlds on the way home given our meal there was so poor. Next time I'll stick to the Elephant and Castle, or one of the other pubs around.

Just had one of the best Sunday dinners, nearly as good as mine lol, Lovely little place, portion sizes are huge, your plate is nearly full then they bring out the vegetables and the biggest jug of gravy you've ever seen, food stays hot too as the plates are piping hot. If you live close by, you got to give it a try, we will be back.
