A confusing dining experience.I think with food you have two question, did you enjoy it and would you go again. The food was OK, we wouldn't go again or recommend. The staff were fantastic but the dining experience is weird. I don't know what type of food you would say the mayflower serves, on one hand you've a tyson burger and on the other you've japenese food and to top it off my wife had mussels covered in grated cheese. Not seeing the menu before, several items you had to pre order, including the platters. I'd never go to a restaurant I've never visited and expect to order crab two days in advance. My personal opinion, the menu is too big and too varied. If you want to be a fish restaurant, provide the best fish in the area, if you want to be a steak restaurant you'll need to compete with Miller and carter, if you want to be a japenese restaurant go for it. I don't think you can be all three, be consistant and provide great food.My wife ordered calamari that came with 5 calamari and a bed of salad, it could have been a main course. I paid £5 for some warm pork scratchings.Having a choice is great, you seem to be making it tricky for yourself by trying to suite everyone.Above is personal opinion, seems like so much potential for a fairly new business. Good luck

A friend and I had high hopes of a well cooked and well presented traditional Christmas dinner when we pre-ordered at the stunningly decorated bar. Alas, my meal was something of a disappointment. One of the roast potatoes on my plate was virtually cremated, and the small thing wrapped in a piece of bacon, that I took to be a 'pig in a blanket', looked more like a porcine dropping. And, despite my asking, I was served a slice of Christmas pudding cut from a tray, rather than a traditional wedge cut from a bowl. All in all, I would not be quick to repeat the experience.

Visited the Mayflower 3 times over the last few months and every time the food has been delicious, service excellent and all very reasonably priced.

First time visit for lunch today, everything was perfect, delicious proper home cooked food (my lasagne was amazing and my 5 companions really enjoyed their meals), great service and the decor is really nice, especially with all the Christmas decorations. About 40 min drive for us but worth it so will definitely be returning. Places like this deserve to do well.
