Rooms: Room was well equipped, but a little run down from when we've stayed there previous years.Noteworthy details: The swimming pool was atmospheric as always but again a little run down. We were lucky to miss out on the new £10 per adult cost for the swimming pool.

Very good, simple check in the room was large and comfortable & the mattress great to sleep on. It was quiet and the temperature was easily regulated as well as the room being very clean. The room was a tad spartan -everything was well maintained but it did feel like it would be due a refurb/ upgrade in the next year or so. The spa is a bit of a disappointment - I used to be a member and it wasn't as well run or maintained as it was. The spa staff were perfunctory. The hotel staff we very friendly and helpful especially in the restaurant. The breakfast was nice but again a little spartan compared to similar places I've stayed- Leonardo Hotels for example.

Good size and quality rooms with separate bath and shower - room not looking dated tho TV is small - great dining area - lovely pool and selection of thermal rooms tho sauna broken and changing rooms are in need of refurbishment - silly spa reception location 2 storeys above changing rooms - not enough staff on hotel reception and printer broken etc - just needs a bit of senior management to raise the standards a bit - UPDATE reception staff still do not tell you anything about the complex process of getting access to the basement pool AND they are about to introduce a £10 extra charge to allow use of the crowded pool facilities

Second visit to this Hotel having stayed about 2 years ago when we went to see Rob Brydon. This time it was Peter Kay. The hotel is in a great location and handy for the tram to the Utilita Arena. Parking is very close too.

I cannot comment on the rooms as I only used the bar/restaurant area and the meeting rooms. Nice hotel staff were friendly especially the lady who was bringing in tea and coffee throughout the day.Great location in the heart of Sheffield city centre. The conference rooms were clean and modern, great WiFi, pens pads water cakes and biscuits were all supplied.Great place to hold a conference or meeting.

A really good hotel that couldn’t be in a better location, slap bang in the middle of Sheffield. Rooms are spacious, shower is really good - it’s just a shame that the beds are rather small despite a huge room, and the mattresses not that comfy. Also, the toilet water pressure must be the weakest thing I’ve ever seen. It’s like the pulse of a 95 year old, a gust from a hand fan would do more.Breakfast is really good and the gym facilities are surprisingly really good for a hotel gym! The punch bag is really good! Staff couldn’t be more friendly or helpful, they’re the real stars of the show.

Great Central location. Nice room, nice en suite. Quiet. Nothing to complain about.

We have just had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The staff could not have been any friendlier & polite. Our room on the first floor was very clean & had tea, coffee, milk & a mini fridge wahoo. We’d taken snacks for a midnight munch so that was fabulous & appreciated after our night out. Today we had the most amazing breakfast….there was so much choice from pastries to cereal to a cooked breakfast. We deliberately didn’t go until 9:30 to fill up & then spent the afternoon relaxing in the amazing spa. We did pay a bit extra for a late checkout but that has been worth it to make the most of the spa facilities. We did have to try a few places who could accommodate us for an evening meal last night … well worth booking beforehand. Fabulous stay & we shall definitely return.

Every room has 2-3 broken items, either the tv, the coffee machine, the air-con or something else.

Unfortunately arrived very late due to travel issues, to find no night porter on reception. Welcomed by a printed note to dial an extension to contact them. Rang several times to no avail. After about 40 minutes the time now 00:45 someone finally answered the number to be told she'd be right up. 15 minutes later the night porter arrived saying she was busy doing something with a smirk on her face. Not even an apology. I can only think she was asleep and the initial calls to her didnt wake her up. Terrible service you do t expect at £198 a night in the center of Sheffield.

The Mercure is right in the city centre next to the peace garden. We used the Just Park App to get a 24hr space in the Moor Street Car Park a few minutes walk away. It should be possible to unload by the hotel, but there is very limited short term parking. The architecture of the hotel is great. The room was fine except for the bed. We think our mattress needed replacing. We asked for the mattress to be turned but we think they just rotated it. We’ve had better sleep in cheaper places. The buffet breakfast should have been fabulous, but the cooked breakfast items had been cooked in bulk and then left under heat lamps, which spoiled what looked like excellent thick cut bacon. There is a swimming pool, gym and sauna under the hotel but the locker arrangement is strange for hotel guests. Guest lockers are in the sauna area not the changing room.Overall this could easily be a fabulous hotel, but some details let it down.
