We have been going to this pub every three weeks for over a year. We noticed a decline in quality of food before Xmas and changed venue. We decided to give it another go on Tuesday night. Six diners and no one had a good meal. Three had lasagne and the bottom of every one was black and hard. Chips were cold and chicken on new yorker was hard. When staff cleared plates away we weren't asked if everything was OK so we told them how bad the food was. We showed them the inedible lasagne bottoms. All staff said was it came in like that and a previous diner had complained about the same. No apology at all. I said you need to get this sorted as it's going to lose you business. Still no apology. We will not be returning and surprisingly I have not been sent the review form by email to complete this visit.

Table booked here for six people, three had beef lasagne which was rock hard as it had been in the microwave for far too long. Could not cut as the bottom was solid and black. The other three meals all had lukewarm chips. We didn’t feel comfortable complaining about all six meals so waited for the waitress to come and check that everything was alright. This didn’t happen. Eventually, she came to clear our plates away and asked if it was alright and we told her it wasn’t. She could see the hard black lasagne on the plates and she told us that it was a bad batch as someone had been told earlier, who complained about it. We had no apology at all, even after telling her it has lost good custom as we eat here frequently. Whilst she was clearing our plates away, we discussed where to eat next time and she advised us about Wetherspoons as she previously worked there! Awful meal and terrible customer service.

Reserved for after a morning walk on the chase New Year’s Day. Think we will make this an annual tradition. Easily reserved the day before. Excellent welcome on arrival. They had tried to contact me I. Regards to a kitchen issue which they had then resolved, but very forward thinking of them. Manager served us, very friendly despite having been at the pub until 3am and back open at 9am! Well organised, good food and excellent prices

New years eve Evening meal, fist member of staff polite, took us to table. When I went to order told blue light card could not be used that day, ( no signs to say this). On ordering started same rude girl told me there was no garlic bread for the mushroom starter. How were they going to serve meals with no deliveries on new years day. Not happy , left and won't go there again

Came here as a group of 14, all staff were great, particularly Jane the Team Leader. Food ordered all together and came within half an hour, all well cooked and tasty. Nice clean place, nice atmosphere, will come again.

Booked in boxing day for lunch waited 40 minutes for food had steak 4 meals came out cold picked a pudding off menu 20 minutes later they told us they had run out have been to chasegate before it was excellent service not many customers in there boxing

Been using this pub for years !! Friendly and smiley staff. breakfast, dinner and pudding as always been lovley. Well priced . Great location. Lovley to sit out the back in the summer. All round great place. Highly recommend.

Me and my family had come in yesterday (17.12.23) for breakfast with Santa. It was amazing, the food was hot and tasty with nothing bad to say about it at all. Santa was amazing, the kids loved him! Can’t fault this pub at all, overall 11/10!

Some of the worst food I think I've ever not eaten. Sausages tasted like microwaved rubber, bacon was as if someone had dipped an old leather boot in a bucket of salt, toast was stale, " scrambled " eggs were just a fried egg that had been mushed up with a fork. Hash browns were actually nice. Next we get on to the Santa part of the " breakfast with Santa " If they had placed a statue of Santa in a chair it would have had more enthusiasm that the embarrassment that they had attempting to be Santa. He sat completely still, didn't speak, wasn't welcoming. Absolutely pointless to be honest. We couldn't leave the venue quicker. Absolutely avoid eating food here at all costs. Just for a side note we have been going to the chase gate for years here and there for food and it didn't used to be too bad. It's absolutely horrendous now.
