Amazing I come here with my family every Sunday and normally every other day. I love the food I order the same thing every time. Mac n cheese is my favourite. Couldnt love this place more.

Lovely comfortable pub with a variety of seating options in different areas that are well separated so you have space. The menu has a good variety of items and different choices everything came out hot and were well presented and excellent value for money. I had the lasagne which was lovely with garlic bread and my husband had the fish which was cooked to perfection. We will return to try out more of the menu.

Went here for Christmas dinner with the family and credit to all staff working, they really pulled it out the bag. Service was great and food was delicous, all 3 courses went down a treat. Thanks to every single one of you who were not with your families so I could be with mine. Hope you enjoyed the tip!

Went here for Christmas dinner and what a disappointment ! The food was not up to par at all ! The cheese souffle starter was a mini omelette covered in pickle it looked awful , my dads starter was terrine advertised as bloomer bread , definitely not bloomer bread was an ordinary cheap loaf and were given no butter , the Christmas dinner was burnt or overcooked , the pigs in blankets were black . The only condiment available was cranberry as they only serve turkey ! My partner had the steak which was literally a steak chips and a bit of rocket for garnish he had no sauce given nor the tomato or onion rings , was advertised as the full meal on the menu ! He was being sick all night which can only of been the steak as the rest of us were fine , he was the only one with steak ! Desserts well you can’t make a mess up with a chocolate brownie however my dads cheeseboard was poor , dry cheese looked like rubber ! None of our meals across the whole 3 courses came at the same time so we were not able to all eat together , the steak came out about 10-15 mins after the staggered turkey dinners . It was also advertised as a mince pie and tea or coffee however this was a lie as it’s just a mince pie no tea or coffee , you had to pay for that , So for the £50 per head that it cost us I will definitely be cooking next year ! Honestly so disappointed and definitely not the worth the money !! This restaurant may be good when it’s not Christmas however with the standard of food put in front of me , would encourage me to go back

Visited yesterday and again today with my friend, connagh the duty manager is so friendly and helpful. The food is absolutely delicious will definitely be back, compliments to the chef. The 2 meals for £14.49 were definitely good value.

First time I’ve been to this Green King Pub today (03/11/23) and was pleasantly surprised. The pub is large and airy, yet surprisingly warm, the staff were lovely (shout out to Alex and Sarah). The drink was excellent and we ordered food from the two mains for 14.49 of gammon. It was a lovely thick piece too, the food was excellent. Well done to the chef and all the staff

Fancied a pub lunch and thought we would come here. I used to come here drinking in my younger years before heading into Newcastle, it was the meet up place. So walking through the doors 37 years later was a walk back into time. Obviously it's changed, but the reminders were there. It was quiet, which mid week I didn't expect it to be bursting at the seams. We both had Ciabatta sandwiches and sides plus a drink which were really nice. I had the sweet chilli chicken and my wife had the steak and cheese. The lady behind the bar was lovely and her service was excellent. We had a natter about my time here all those years ago and agreed that it should be more like 37 days not 37 years before our next visit. I think it would be the sooner rather than the later else they'll be serving food at my wake. Would recommend definitely

Food was lovely, the staff were great and we didn't have to wait long for our food and I felt it was very good value for the money, would definitely recommend it and will certainly be returning soon and for people's information it is dog friendly and they have dog friendly seating and items for dogs

The interior was beautiful, the food was lovely but it was let down by the service taking a while to deliver the food after ordering. Ordered vegetarian sausages to be bought out normal ones because ‘there were no vegetarian ones’ even though they were on the menu? The ‘play area’ looks like an after thought and really, it brings it down.Overall, A nice pub, nice food but slow inconsistent service and construction site for a playground.Vegetarian options: Bring meat out when requested vegetarianKid-friendliness: Literally kids running everywhere inside whilst you’re eating so yeah, kid-friendliness

We went to the gatehouse 7th august for lunch I ordered my favourite meal which is steak and ale pie , I’m sorry but the pastry on the pie was that hard and over cooked that I couldn’t cut it with my knife and fork,.I thought that it was perhaps me but someone else on another table had the same and he also left the pastry , sorry bu not a very good experience

First time I ever came to the pub/restaurant with my partner. The bar staff were very polite and welcoming! There was plenty of tables and seats to choose from. We ordered food and drink from the Greene king app, the bar staff were really quick in the space of 5 mins of ordering food. The mains and desserts were really nice! Best food I had. We will be back again soon!
